Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the finale of our Summer Evening Series, The Ibiza Beach Club, brought to you by Hits Radio. To begin, I would like to extend my thanks to tonight’s valued sponsors: our multi-raceday partner BetVictor, Pump Technology Services, the European Breeders’ Fund, Country & Town House, Moonraker Disco & Events, Rayner Bosch, Frasers Plus Designer Outlet Swindon, and our Summer Evening Series title partner, Hits Radio. The second race this evening is the Pump Technology Services Jung Training Day EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes, a two-year-old contest run over six and a half furlongs. Of the eight runners, the homebred Juddmonte runner looks a particularly interesting prospect on pedigree. By Frankel and a half-sister to Publish, who was Listed-placed behind top miler Bow Echo last year, she appears to hold strong claims for the Gosden team, who have been enjoying excellent recent success here at Newbury. We are delighted to conclude our popular Summer Evening Series this evening with The Ibiza Beach Club. Racegoers can enjoy a vibrant selection of cocktails, live music from our talented saxophonist, and, after the last race, the ultimate closing party with our resident DJ and tonight’s sponsor, Moonraker Disco & Events. We are pleased to be able to offer complimentary tickets for this evening’s racing to those who’d been affected by the recent Heritage Live cancellations at Englefield Estate. More than 700 Englefield Estate ticket holders are joining us today, and we’d like to extend a warm welcome and hope everyone enjoys their time with us. This evening follows hot on the heels of an unforgettable weekend, with racing and music fans joining us for the Apple Print & Creative Raceday and Weatherbys Super Sprint Day last week. Friday’s raceday saw the Gipsy Kings thrill more than 5,000 fans before Ronan Keating entertained the crowd on Saturday with a set full of his and Boyzone’s biggest hits. On the track, the highlight came in the £250,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint, where Zigazig Ah prevailed in a thrilling photo finish to land a memorable victory. Following last weekend’s music racedays, we are thrilled to welcome Tinie Tempah on Friday 14th August and Jessie J on Saturday 15th August, both performing as part of Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend. Discounted tickets, passes and hospitality packages are available until midnight tomorrow, 24th July. Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us this evening. We hope you enjoy your time with us and look forward to welcoming you back for Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend on Friday 14th & Saturday 15th August. Shaun Hinds Chief Executive Newbury Racecourse 3

How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do: 1.

Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: •

‘To win’ is for your

•

‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your

horse to come first. horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. •

What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

•

The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
