Founded on 20th December 1983, Dubai Duty Free is now in its 42nd year of operation and has grown into one of the world’s largest single travel retail operators.
Now employing over 5,800 people, the operation has consistently raised the benchmark for airport retailing, and it continues to grow.
Currently operating around 40,000 sqm of retail space across Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports, Dubai Duty Free has continued its investment in the development and expansion of its retail offering. This includes the multi-million renovation of its three Arrivals shops across Terminals 1, 2, and 3 at Dubai International Airport.
Recently, the retailer opened a second Louis Vuitton boutique in Terminal 3, Concourse A on 4th September, while a new Cartier boutique is also set to open in Concourse A by the end of the month.
In addition to the retail division Dubai Duty Free operates a Leisure Division which includes The Irish Village both in Garhoud and Studio One Hotel, the Century Village, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, home to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and The Jumeirah Creekside Hotel
To date, Dubai Duty Free has received over 780 awards including its record tenth Frontier ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’ Award in 2021. In 2025, Dubai Duty Free won several awards including its 24th consecutive Business Traveller Middle East Award for "Best "Airport for Duty Free Shopping in the Middle East". It also received the "International Safety Awards for Distinction" and "Best in Sector Award - Retail" at the British Safety Council. Additionally, Dubai Duty Free was recognised as one of the Best Places to Work in the UAE for 2024 within the 'Very Big Organisation' category.

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the first day of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend, featuring the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup.
To begin, I’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors: Kennet Valley Syndicates, European Breeders Fund, Haynes Hanson & Clark, Fitzdares, and our title partner across the weekend, Dubai Duty Free.
2025 marks the 30th year of Newbury’s partnership with Dubai Duty Free. Over the decades, Dubai Duty Free has grown into a global success story, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support. We’re delighted to welcome members of the Dubai Duty Free team back for what promises to be another fantastic weekend.
We also celebrate Haynes Hanson & Clark, our second-longest standing sponsor, and the afternoon’s fourth race is the 45th running of the Haynes Hanson & Clark Stakes; of the seven runners, five are previous winners, with only Kokbastau making his Racecourse debut. The locally trained Tierra Del Toro, from the Ralph Beckett yard, was a 340,000 guineas purchase and his dam is a full sister to Treve, the French Oaks and dual Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner The Lope De Vega colt makes his turf debut today, following a successful outing at Kempton.
This month marks the 120th anniversary of the very first meeting at Newbury Racecourse, held on September 26th and 27th, 1905. The Racecourse’s inaugural race, the Whatcombe Handicap, was won by Copper King.
Be sure to visit the Dubai Duty Free marquee today, where you can enjoy authentic Dubaian hospitality and take part in the ever-popular Wheel of Fortune, with prizes including free entry into the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise and Millennium Millionaire draws.
Looking ahead, the Flat season continues with the return of Oktoberfest during the BetVictor Flat Season Finale on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th October Expect traditional Bavarian food, a wide selection of drinks, and plenty of oompah – it’s set to be our best yet!
2025 is also our biggest year of music to date, and we’re thrilled to welcome BRIT Award-winner James Bay to the Party in the Paddock stage tomorrow. Tickets are still available today on-site, online, or on the gate tomorrow
We’re also excited to announce the return of our Christmas parties, taking place on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th December Availability is limited, so if you’re looking for a unique, themed venue for your festive celebrations, we’ve got you covered. For more details, please see the information later in the racecard.
Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow for day two of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend, with James Bay live after racing.

How To Use:
Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.

Dubai Duty Free, now in its 42nd year of operation, has grown into one of the biggest single travel retail operators in the world.
Employing nearly 6,000 people, the operation has consistently raised the benchmark for airport retailing and it continues to grow.
To date, Dubai Duty Free has received over 800 awards including its record tenth ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’ at the prestigious Frontier Awards held in Cannes. In May 2025, Dubai Duty Free won its 24th consecutive Business Traveller Middle East Award for “Best Duty Free Shopping in the Middle East”.
Dubai Duty Free is committed to promoting Dubai through a series of high level sporting events such as the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which this year marked the 25th anniversary of the WTA week and the 33rd year of the ATP week in February 2025.
The Championships was won by Mirra Andreeva, who become the youngest-ever WTA 1000 Champion and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who captured his first ATP 500 title.
Much awareness is also created by the operation’s involvement in horse racing and Dubai Duty Free regularly flies the flag in the UK in April and September at the historical Newbury Racecourse.
Meanwhile, the world’s premier international jockeys’ challenge, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup took place at Ascot Racecourse in August which was won the newly created Asia team.
The 29th June saw the 18th running of the prestigious Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby held at The Curragh Racecourse in Ireland, which offered a rich purse of €1.25 million. The race was won by Lambourn, which is trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore as the jockey.
This September, the distinctive Dubai Duty Free branding is back at Newbury Racecourse for the two-day Dubai Duty Free International Weekend, which marks the season finale of the operation’s horseracing sponsorship in 2025.
Other sports to benefit from Dubai Duty Free’s support include the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

The Blue Point colt wasn’t disgraced when fourth in the Jersey at Royal Ascot earlier this season, proving that he is capable of mixing it at a higher level, and he has evidently improved since Volterra probably needed the run in France when returning from a three-month break and he’ll be a major threat if back to his best, while Spy Chief also has claims.
