FREE WI-FI

How

Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the first of two days of thrilling racing action at Newbury.

We have six races for you this afternoon, kindly sponsored by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, talkSPORT, Ross Brooke, Pump Technology, European Breeders Fund and longstanding partner BetVictor.

The feature race of the afternoon is the IRE Incentive - It Pays To Buy Irish Rose Bowl Stakes, our first Listed race of the season for two-year-olds, which will be run over six furlongs. All of the six horses declared are making their first start at Newbury Racecourse, despite having gained experience elsewhere. The highest-rated colt is the Godolphin-owned Wise Approach - the £1 million guineas Mehmas yearling - who finished a strong second in the Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) at Royal Ascot on his most recent start.

For those interested in getting closer to the action, be sure to join course expert David Crosse for a Trip to the Start ahead of the 2:25pm, 3pm, and 3:35pm races. Racegoers keen to take part should meet to the left-hand side of the Weighing Room 20 minutes beforehand.

We’re thrilled to welcome racegoers to Filly’s, our new sparkling wine bar in partnership with Chapel Down. Opened last week, this exciting addition is located next to the Hampshire Stand and has already proved popular. This evening’s Pump It Up After Party is hosted at Filly’s for those who’d like to extend the fun with music and dancing.

If you’re joining us tomorrow, you’re in for a treat as we welcome the return of the Weatherbys Super Sprint, with a field of 20 two-year-old horses declared. Following the racing action, Ella Henderson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, will make their debuts on the Party in the Paddock stage, performing live after the last race. If you fancy joining us, Grandstand tickets are available online and at the North Entrance tomorrow. Please note, Premier Plus and Premier tickets have sold out. There’s plenty more to come after Weatherbys Super Sprint, including the finale of the popular Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio on Thursday 24th July, courtesy of The Ibiza Beach Club This meeting promises an evening of thrilling racing and Ibiza vibes, featuring a live saxophonist and the ultimate summer closing party.

2025 marks our biggest year of music yet, with four spectacular music racedays across July, August, and September. We’re thrilled to welcome Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ella Henderson tomorrow, followed by Bjorn Again on Friday 15th August, Clean Bandit on Saturday 16th August for Visit Malta Hungerford Day, and James Bay on Saturday 20th September as part of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend. Discounted tickets, passes, and hospitality packages are available for a limited time via our website don’t miss your chance to be part of an unforgettable summer of racing and music

Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable evening and look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow for Weatherbys Super Sprint Day, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ella Henderson live after racing.

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
