Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the Apple Print & Creative Raceday, the first day of a thrilling racing weekend here at Newbury. We have a fantastic afternoon lined up, and I would like to extend my thanks to all of today’s sponsors: Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, BetVictor, the European Breeders’ Fund, UHY Ross Brooke, Crossland Employment Solicitors, and our new title partner, Apple Print & Creative. The feature race of the afternoon is the £50,000 Apple Print & Creative Rose Bowl Stakes, a Listed race for two-year-olds over six furlongs. This year’s renewal has attracted 12 declarations, including the Godolphin-owned and Charlie Applebytrained Nabati. William Buick’s mount will be hoping to build on his comfortable Yarmouth debut success at the start of July, while the connections landed the spoils in the Rose Bowl 12 months ago with Wise Approach, who went on to win the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes in September. There’s lots to be excited about today as we welcome the Grammy Awardwinning Gipsy Kings, led by iconic frontman Nicolas Reyes, to the Party in the Paddock stage. Head to the Grandstand Enclosure after racing to catch this evening’s entertainment, with the show scheduled to start around 7pm. There’s plenty more to look forward to this summer, including the finale of the popular Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio on Thursday 23rd July, courtesy of The Ibiza Beach Club. This meeting promises an evening of thrilling racing and Ibiza vibes, featuring a live saxophonist and the ultimate summer closing party. 2026 is our biggest year of music yet, with four spectacular music racedays to look forward to. We’re thrilled to welcome Ronan Keating tomorrow on Weatherbys Super Sprint Day. A month later, Tinie Tempah performs on Friday 14 August, before Jessie J takes to the stage on Saturday 15 August, both as part of Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend. You can expect top-class racing followed by outstanding live entertainment. Discounted tickets, passes and hospitality packages are available, but only for a limited time. Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We hope you have an enjoyable evening and hope to welcome you back tomorrow for Weatherbys Super Sprint Day, with Ronan Keating performing live after racing. How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do: 1.
Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: •
‘To win’ is for your
•
‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your
horse to come first. horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. •
What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
•
The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
