Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to our August Race Night.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their generous support on today’s card; Pump Technology, BetVictor, LPG & Lettings Hub and ITM.
With seven races this evening, the Pump Technology Fillies Maiden over six furlongs for two-year-olds has proved popular with 20 declarations resulting in a division with 10 runners in each race. Some of these have already made their debuts but most of the runners are gaining racecourse experience for the first time, including the beautifully bred Maissara in the 16:45 - a daughter of Frankel who fetched £425,000 guineas as a foal.
Racegoers will see some of the best jockeys in action this evening with the likes of William Buick, James Doyle, Jim Crowley, Rossa Ryan, Tom Marquand and his wife Hollie Doyle with multiple rides throughout the seven race card this evening. This evening follows one of our flagship music events of the year, BetVictor Hungerford Day where we welcomed more than 13,500 racegoers and music fans with rising star DJ Emily Nash and Mercury Award winner Dizzee Rascal taking to the stage after racing.
The Dubai Duty Free International Weekend returns on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September with discounted tickets available until Friday 13th September Oktoberfest’s then back during the BetVictor Flat Season Finale on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th October, meaning we’ve got two thrilling autumn weekends packed with top quality racing and entertainment to look forward to.
We have recently confirmed 2025’s fixture list and we’ll host 31 racedays next year. Those keen to secure the lowest-priced tickets for 2025’s action can do so by registering for priority ticket access, for free. Registering guarantees access to Newbury’s Super Early Bird tickets – simply visit www.newburyracecourse.co.uk/ priority to register.
There is no need to head off after the last race this evening as we have an afterparty until 9:00pm with our resident DJ Moonraker on the Crafty Filly terrace.
As ever, there is free Wi-Fi available to use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the team.
Thank you for choosing to spend you day with us. I hope you have an enjoyable time, and we will see you next week for our final evening meeting of the year, the BetVictor Race Night.

Newbury Racecourse
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
