Good evening and a very warm welcome to our Summer Evening Series Raceday with The Wild Wild West, the second of three evening meetings as part of our exciting Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio this July.

We’ve an enjoyable evening in store and our thanks go to today’s partners – Hits Radio, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, Juddmonte, European Breeders Fund, Donnington Grove Vets and Pump Technology.

Pump Technology – a proud sponsor at Newbury for over 20 years – feature on this evening’s card with their longstanding partnership with Jonathan Portman Racing celebrated during the evening’s fifth race. Jonathan and his team are regulars here at the Racecourse throughout the Flat season and we look forward to seeing them this evening.

This year’s Summer Evening Series is presented in partnership with Hits Radio who are renowned for playing the biggest hits and the biggest throwbacks. Our three raceday parties promise just that this month with live music throughout the racing and an afterparty following the evening’s last race.

The series got underway with The Garden Party last week, and The Beach Club is still to come on Thursday 25th July. Those in attendance this evening can look forward a night of western-themed entertainment, including performances from acclaimed country DJ, Rattlesnake Johnny and an array of whiskey and BBQinspired food available via table service in The Wild Wild West stretch tent. Our country afterparty will be held on the Copper King Lawn.

July’s a bumper month at Newbury and – as well as The Beach Club – will see us welcome the IRE Incentive Raceday (Friday 19th July) and Weatherbys Super Sprint Day with Sigala (Saturday 20th July) with the best deal on tickets always available early.

August is another big month at Newbury with BetVictor Hungerford Day with Dizzee Rascal on Saturday 17th August. Discounted tickets are only available until Friday 26th July

Finally, I would like to thank all our racegoers for joining us this evening. I hope you have an enjoyable evening and that we will see you again next week for our IRE Incentive Raceday and Weatherbys Super Sprint with Sigala.

Thank You to Today’s Race Sponsors

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.

Race Summary: BRIAN sets the standard in this contest having continued his progress when fourth in the Chesham at Royal Ascot, so he could be set to open his account this time around. Next on the list is Stapleford Park, who found only a well-supported newcomer too strong at Ripon on his latest outing, ahead of Inconspicuous.

Admission

All tickets, badges and other forms of entry to the Racecourse (including car parks and other surrounding areas owned by the Racecourse) are issued strictly subject to the Racecourse’s terms and conditions of entry. The terms and conditions of entry are available on request from the Racecourse Office and can be found on our website. The Racecourse has the right to refuse admission or expel an attendee where an attendee has breached or is likely to breach the terms and conditions of entry.

Betting

Laying of bets is subject to Racecourse terms and conditions. The Betting Ring Manager is located in the Grandstand ground floor, opposite Donna Italia, today. Customers of the boards and rails bookmakers should check their itemised tickets immediately on receipt, as mistakes cannot be rectified after the ‘off’.

Collecting your winnings: If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement.

NEVER destroy your ticket until after the ‘Weighed in’ announcement has been made. There may still be a Steward’s Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses may be disqualified.

With Bookmakers: A late pay service is available in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY

With the Tote: Winning tickets not claimed on the course can be redeemed by returning your winning ticket to: Britbet, Customer Services, Aintree Racecourse, Princess Royal Stand, Ormskirk Road, Liverpool L9 5AS
