Good evening and a very warm welcome to the Billington Foundation Raceday with The Garden Party, the first of three evening meetings as part of our exciting Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio this July.

We’ve an enjoyable evening in store and our thanks go to today’s partners – Billington Foundation, Hits Radio, Rapid Personnel, English Provender Company, Ufton Coury, Billington Foods, Future Bound and Very Lazy Sauces.

Our Summer Evening Series returns after its successful debut in 2023 and this year’s edition promises to be bigger and better courtesy of our new partnership with Hits Radio. Hits Radio are renowned for playing the biggest hits and the biggest throwbacks and our three raceday parties promise just that this month with live music throughout the racing and an afterparty following the evening’s last race.

The series gets underway with The Garden Party this evening with The Wild Wild West (Thursday 11th July) and The Beach Club (Thursday 25th July) still to come during a bumper July which also sees us welcome the IRE Incentive Raceday (Friday 19th July) and Weatherbys Super Sprint Day with Sigala (Saturday 20th July) with the best deal on tickets always available early.

August is another big month at Newbury with BetVictor Hungerford Day with Dizzee Rascal on Saturday 17th August and discounted Early Bird tickets are only available until 11:59pm this Friday for this showpiece raceday

Last week was Racing Staff Week and we’re pleased to have been able to offer those working within racing – and a friend - free entry to this evening’s raceday as part of our new Racing Staff offers with those working in the industry also entitled to free admission to our BetVictor Flat Finale with Oktoberfest on Saturday 26th October. For more information, please head to: www.newburyracecourse.co.uk/racingstaff.

Finally, I would like to thank all our racegoers for joining us this evening. I hope you have an enjoyable evening and that we will see you again on Thursday 11th July as the Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio continues with The Wild Wild West.

Thank You to Today’s Race Sponsors

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.

Race Summary: There were plenty of positives to take from KING OF BEARS C&D debut in May, for all that he failed to justify favouritism. The son of Kodi Bear will be more street-wise this time and he could be the answer Chelsea Embankment left his low-key debut behind when third at Salisbury last month and looks a big threat, while I Maximus and Spell Master are two newcomers to note in the betting. 1-2-3: 1.KING OF BEARS (IRE) 2.CHELSEA EMBANKMENT (IRE) 3.I

Collecting your winnings: If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement.

NEVER destroy your ticket until after the ‘Weighed in’ announcement has been made. There may still be a Steward’s Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses may be disqualified.

With Bookmakers: A late pay service is available in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY

With the Tote: Winning tickets not claimed on the course can be redeemed by returning your winning ticket to: Britbet, Customer Services, Aintree Racecourse, Princess Royal Stand, Ormskirk Road, Liverpool L9 5AS
