A very warm welcome to all our racegoers for BetVictor January Racing. It was extremely unfortunate that we had to abandon our ﬁrst race meeting of 2024 last week, however today’s meeting is an exciting one as it marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with Sky Sports Racing. All of Newbury’s race meetings will now be broadcast on Sky Sports Racing and we are very much looking forward to working with the team at Sky. In other exciting news – and following a record executive contribution - Newbury Racecourse this week announced a record £7,000,000 of prize money will be on offer in 2024, which represents a 13% increase on 2023, which itself was a 16% increase on 2022. Shifting focus back to today, a big thank you goes to title sponsor and long-standing partner BetVictor as well as Sky Sports Racing, the friends of Ray Dalfsen, the family and friends of the late Bob Olney and the family, friends and music fans of Ricky Green. Two lucky Newbury Members, David Olney and Andrew Slater won an exclusive Members’ prize draw recently. The prize was the opportunity to enjoy a sponsors’ experience today. Both David and Andrew with their guests will experience all the perks strictly reserved for a sponsor, including awarding the Best Turned Out, an invitation into the Royal Box and of course the naming rights to one of the races on today’s card. Andrew’s son-in-law Ricky Green has just released a new album so he chose to name it after this occasion as a surprise. We hope both parties have a memorable day. It’s also a special time for two other Members; Mr and Mrs Randall celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently – we send our congratulations. Tickets for 2024’s racedays are now on sale and new for this year is our ‘Four Saturdays’ Pass which entitles racegoers admission to four big Saturday racedays in 2024; Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials, Al Shaqab Lockinge with Ladies Day, Dubai Duty Free International and the Coral Gold Cup, from just £89. These passes have proved popular since their release and given the value they offer this doesn’t come as a surprise. How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground ﬂoor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number. 2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: • ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. • ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. • What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places. • The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure! 3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash?
