Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to Weatherbys Super Sprint Day, featuring eight high class races on one of Newbury’s stand-out summer racedays.

The Weatherbys Super Sprint was established in 1991 and has become a major target for speedy two-year-olds that were bought at auction. This is the 32nd running of the race which has played host to some outstanding winners in the past, including the likes of Superstar Leo, Tiggy Wiggy, Happy Romance, Gubbass and most recently Eddie’s Boy.

Many thanks to long-term sponsors Weatherbys for their continued generous support and this year we celebrate their 30th year of sponsorship. A big thanks to today’s other sponsors bet365, Mettal UK, Darley and the British European Breeders Fund.

Sir Tom Jones will return to the Party in the Paddock stage to perform following this afternoon’s racing. If you have close proximity access you can collect your wristbands at any point throughout the day from the collections gazebo in the Grandstand Enclosure.

Parkinson’s UK will be operating a bucket collection at both the east and south entrances from 4:20pm until after the concert finishes. I know I speak on behalf of Parkinson’s UK when I say any and all donations would be warmly received.

Looking ahead, there is plenty still to enjoy this summer including the finale of our new Summer Evening Series on Thursday 27 July with The Cocktail Club. This raceday promises an evening of exciting racing and Ibiza vibes on the Crafty Filly Terrace including a live saxophonist and an afterparty We are also pleased to be able to offer stable staff free entry for this evening with a valid ID or letter from their employer.

Our second Party in the Paddock raceday then arrives on Saturday 19 August for BetVictor Hungerford Day with Olly Murs performing live after racing. Discounted tickets are still available for this raceday, but only until Friday 28 July.
