Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the first of two days of thrilling racing action here at Newbury.
We have a fascinating seven-race card for you this afternoon, kindly sponsored by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, bet365, R&M Electrical, Quickmove, UHY Ross Brooke and Crossland Employment Solicitors.
The highlight of this afternoon’s racing sees the Listed IRE-INCENTIVE, It Pays To Buy Irish Rose Bowl Stakes take place, with those enjoying success over the previous years including the multiple group race winner, Limato back in 2014 and Tasleet in 2015. Always an excellent race for the two-year-olds, we look forward to seeing who takes the win this year.
For those interested in getting even closer to the action, make sure you join course expert David Crosse for a Trip to the Start ahead of the 3:00 race today. We ask that any racegoers keen to make the trip out to the course meet to the left-hand side of the Weighing Room 20 minutes before.
If you are joining us tomorrow, you are in for a treat as we see the return of the Weatherbys Super Sprint, where a field of 21 two-year-old horses have been declared. Following the racing action, Sir Tom Jones will return to the Party in the Paddock stage to perform after the last race. Our Premier Enclosure is now sold out, but if you fancy joining us, Grandstand tickets are still available for £45.
Looking ahead, there is plenty around the corner as we see the finale of the Summer Evening Series on Thursday 27 July with The Cocktail Club. This meeting promises an evening of exciting racing and Ibiza vibes on the Crafty Filly Terrace including a live saxophonist followed by an afterparty. We are also offering stable staff free entry for this evening with a valid ID or letter from their employer.
As ever, there’s free Wi-Fi available for use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team.
Thank you for choosing to spend your day with us. I hope you have an enjoyable time and that we will see you again tomorrow for the Weatherbys Super Sprint with Sir Tom Jones.

How To Bet
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Pleasegambleresponsibly.

Race Summary: GUSHING GOLD has a lot less on her plate than when in midfield in the Albany so looks the way to go unless one of the newcomers proves well above average. Raqiya and Pannonica appeal most of those starting out here and could emerge as the main threats to Andrew Balding’s fairly useful filly in that order.
