Good evening and a very warm welcome to The Pump Technology Raceday with The Rum Shack, the second of three meetings in our exciting new Summer Evening Series this July.

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pump Technology for their title sponsorship of this evening’s card. They are celebrating their 30-year anniversary this year, 21 of which have been spent as a sponsor here at Newbury Racecourse. We are delighted to welcome them back alongside their subsidiary businesses, Pentair - Jung Pumpen, Pegasus Pump and Lee Sanitation. You will notice there is also a race supporting Jonathan Portman, who has runners today. Pump Technology have been a proud sponsor of Jonathan Portman Racing for over 25 years and Jonathan and his team are regulars here at Newbury during the Flat season.

Our reimagined Summer Evening Series has plenty to offer and this evening we bring racegoers The Rum Shack, which sees a range of rums available at selected bars plus special cocktails, a live steel band throughout the evening and an afterparty until 10pm on the Crafty Filly Terrace.

The Summer Evening Series concludes with The Cocktail Club on Thursday 27 July, which promises an evening of exciting racing, Ibiza vibes on the Crafty Filly Terrace including a live saxophonist followed by an afterparty.

It’s also not long until Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs arrive at the Racecourse as part of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day (Sat 22 July) and BetVictor Hungerford Day (Sat 19 August). Racegoers have already saved over £200,000 on tickets to this summer’s music racedays courtesy of our ticketing discounts. Discounted tickets do remain for Olly Murs but only until Friday 28 July while Premier Enclosure tickets are now very limited for Sir Tom Jones.

As ever, there’s free Wi-Fi available for use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team.

Thank you for choosing to spend your evening with us. I hope you have an enjoyable time and that we will see you again next week for the IRE Incentive Raceday on Friday 21 July

Thank You to Today’s Race Sponsors

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Pleasegambleresponsibly.

BY 30 YEARS OF GREAT SERVICE

To the Sewage, Waste & Clean Water Pumping Industry

THE PUMP TECHNOLOGY STORY:

After working in the pump industry for many years, I established Pump Technology Ltd in 1992 in response to the unserviced demand for mid-range systems to pump sewage, waste and clean water. I sourced the best pumps and custom built systems to suit individual needs.

The company quickly expanded to offer commercial and industrial systems. To maintain the quality and supply of tanks used with our systems I set up Pegasus Pumps, who now produce tanks from 300mm³ to chambers 2.1m diameter and 5m+ deep.

Over the years I have gathered a team of dedicated, experienced professionals who pride themselves on attention to detail Our success is built on high quality products, comprehensive knowledge and sound advice coupled with our unique service and technical support.

We are pump people who supply the pumps & pump systems you need. Our philosophy is simple.

SPEED of RESPONSE - Present us with your problem and, working with you, we will present you with the most economic solution on the market providing optimum performance and lowest ownership costs. We AIM to do this WITHIN 30 MINUTES of our first discussion, subject to complexity of quotation.
