Good evening and a very warm welcome to The Gin Garden, the inaugural raceday in our exciting new Summer Evening Series which runs across three Thursday evenings this July.
Our thanks go to our partners of the day –BetVictor, Veolia, the British European Breeders Fund, KKA Studio, Country & Town House and TPT Fire.
The reimagined Summer Evening Series has plenty to offer over the coming weeks and this evening’s Gin Garden sees over 30 gins available at selected bars plus special cocktails, live acoustic music and an afterparty until 10pm on the Crafty Filly Terrace.
Our Summer Evening Series continues next week with The Rum Shack on Thursday 13 July before The Cocktail Club arrives on Thursday 27 July. Each promises an evening of exciting racing, themed food and drink, live music and an afterparty
It’s also not long until Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs arrive at the Racecourse as part of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day (Sat 22 July) and BetVictor Hungerford Day (Sat 19 August). Racegoers have already saved over £200,000 on tickets to this summer’s music racedays courtesy of our ticketing discounts. Discounted tickets do remain for Olly Murs but only until Friday 28 July while Premier Enclosure tickets are now limited for Sir Tom Jones.
We are also thrilled to welcome stable staff from across the region this evening who have received free entry as part of Racing Staff Week which was celebrated last week. It is a fantastic initiative from Racing Welfare to show their thanks to those doing an amazing job in this industry.
As ever, there’s free Wi-Fi available for use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team.
Thank you for choosing to spend your evening with us. I hope you have an enjoyable time and that we will see you again next week for The Rum Shack on Thursday 13 July.

How To Bet
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Pleasegambleresponsibly.

Race Summary: This has a wide-open feel and it could be worth siding with PENGUIN ISLAND
She’s gone close from similar marks previously and with the return to the minimum trip holding no fears on the back of a short break, it would come as no surprise to see make a bold bid. Symbol of Hope has been in good heart at Bath and is a threat, with Ray Vonn one to monitor also. Level Up completes the shortlist.
