OLLY
Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the Summer June Raceday here at Newbury Racecourse.
Our thanks go to our partners of the day – BetVictor, Highclere Castle Gin, Darley and British EBF for their continued support.
We have a busy few months ahead of us and are now exactly three weeks away from our exciting Summer Evening Series commencing with three themed Thursday evening fixtures to look forward to across July. These include, The Gin Garden, The Rum Shack and The Cocktail Club all with a host of live music, themed cuisine and an after party!
Its also not long until Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs arrive at the Racecourse as part of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day (Sat 22 July) and BetVictor Hungerford Day (Sat 19 August). Racegoers have already saved over £150,000 on tickets to this summer’s music racedays courtesy of our ticketing discounts, with discounts still available for both racedays throughout June.
As ever, there’s free WI-FI available for use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team.
Thank you for choosing to spend your day with us. I hope you have an enjoyable afternoon and that we will see you again next week for our first evening fixture of the year, the KC Soccer Sofas Midsummer Raceday on Tuesday 27 July.

How To Bet
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Pleasegambleresponsibly.

Race Summary: LOSE YOURSELF sets a very useful standard and has to be the call. Satirical drew a blank in 2 outings last year but the fact she went off at short odds on her debut suggests she’s well regarded and it’s potentially significant that Frankie Dettori comes across for the ride. Value Added should have more to offer on the back of her promising C&D debut second last autumn, while Sanction and Without Remorse are newcomers to monitor in the betting.
