OLLY

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the BetVictor Early June Raceday here at Newbury Racecourse.

We are very grateful to BetVictor, our title sponsor today, and thank them for their continued support.

We have eight races to look forward to this afternoon, with the action getting underway from 2pm.

We’ve a busy few months coming up here; we’re now just over four weeks away from our exciting new Summer Evening Series commencing - with three themed Thursday evening fixtures to look forward to across July - and we have two more June fixtures to enjoy before the new series arrives.

It’s also not long until Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs arrive at the Racecourse as part of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day (Sat 22 July) and BetVictor Hungerford Day (Sat 19 August) respectively Racegoers have already saved over £150,000 on tickets to this summer’s music racedays courtesy of our ticketing discounts, with discounts still available for both racedays throughout June.

As ever, there’s free Wi-Fi available for use today in all public areas and if you have any questions or queries during your time with us please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our team.

Thank you for choosing to spend your day with us, we hope you have an enjoyable afternoon and we see you again soon.

Thank You to Today’s Race Sponsors

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

•‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

•‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

•What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

•The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Pleasegambleresponsibly.
