The Bridget Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, run over seven furlongs at Newbury Racecourse since 1987, is sponsored in perpetuity by her family in memory of Bridget Fetherston-Godley

Bridget was a passionate racegoer as well as being a successful owner and breeder, with an encyclopaedic recall of thoroughbred blood lines, and she would be thrilled so many winners of her race have proven to be of high calibre.

She spread her knowledge and enthusiasm for flat racing to her family, in particular to her husband and to her son, who was a successful racehorse trainer for many years.
