Good afternoon and welcome to the first of our two-day meeting which marks the end of another fantastic Flat season here at Newbury Racecourse.

I would like to start by thanking today’s sponsors for their generous support of this fixture including BetVictor, Hot to Trot Racing, West Berkshire Racing Club and Gardner Mechanical Services.

For a second year running we are delighted to bring you top quality racing as well as Oktoberfest. As today is a Single Enclosure fixture, please feel free to move around the site and head to the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand which has been transformed into a Bavarian themed Oktoberfest experience, complete with the traditional Steins, Bratwurst, Pretzels and live Oompah music between the racing.

As supporters of the charity Racing Welfare, today we will be presenting an award to Geoff Rigby who has won a Lifetime in Racing Award for his contributions well done Geoff!

We have been fortunate enough to witness some highly memorable performances this Flat season including, Baaeed’s seasonal reappearance in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, Eddies Boy winning the Weatherbys Super Sprint under a very cool ride from Hollie Doyle, Jumby’s win in the Group 2 BetVictor Hungerford Stakes and most recently David Egan’s four-timer back in September. Always competitive, we look forward to seeing who emerges as future stars over the next two days of racing action.

Looking ahead, hopefully many of you will be aware of the recent launch of The Great Christmas Carnival which will be arriving at Newbury Racecourse on 27 November and run until 2 January. This large-scale winter extravaganza will take place in the centre of the racecourse and will feature a wide-range of family festive entertainment, including rides, rollercoasters,an ice-rink, circus shows and of course Father Christmas.

A range of tickets and packages are available to purchase by visiting greatchristmascarnivalnewbury.com and if you are planning on joining us for the Coral Gold Cup Meeting on 25/26 November, your racing ticket will also grant you exclusive entry to the Carnival site after the racing.

I would finally like to take this opportunity to thank all our racegoers for joining us over the summer We are extremely grateful for all the support you provide us with, and we look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow for the Virgin Bet Flat Finale and the second day of Oktoberfest.

Wishing you an enjoyable and profitable afternoon. Chief Executive

Race Summary: Plenty in with chances but Sylvester Kirk’s MANY RIVERS was sent off an unconsidered 100/1 shot when a staying-on fourth at this track 5 weeks ago and with that initial outing under her belt, she gets the tentative vote. Race Summary: Cases can be made for the majority of these but MISTY DANCER and Miss Down Under are the most appealing on account of their recent progress. Marginal preference is for the former, who appeared to have a bit more in hand than the winning margin would suggest when getting the better of the re-opposing Smiling Jayne at Ayr. Miss Down Under beat a useful yardstick in good style at Ffos Las and further rain would enhance her prospects, while Picual is in good hands and remains of interest.
