Good evening and a warm welcome to the second of three Gin Thursdays here at Newbury, an evening to relax with friends and family, enjoy the racing, and try a few of our speciality gin and tonics. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pump Technology for their title sponsorship of this evening’s card. They are celebrating their 30 year anniversary this year, 20 years of which have been as a sponsor here at Newbury Racecourse. We are delighted to welcome them back alongside their subsidiary businesses, Pegasus Pump, Pentair-Jung Pumpen and Lee Sanitation who are all here this evening. You will notice there is also a race supporting Jonathan Portman, who has runners today in three races. Pump Technology have been a proud sponsor of Jonathan Portman Racing for over 25 years and the trainer is a familiar face here at Newbury during the flat season. Summer is well underway and there is plenty to look forward to over the next two months. Our final Gin Thursday takes place on 21 July, whilst our Party in the Paddock events kick-off next weekend on Saturday 16 July with Craig David live after racing on Weatherbys Super Sprint Day. Our Premier Enclosure is now sold out but we have limited availability remaining in both of our restaurants and plenty of space in our Grandstand Enclosure which includes our award-winning Rhododendron Bar. For those racegoers who are here for the racing action and not looking to stay on for the concert, we do offer a voucher on exit prior to the concert starting with a discount on future racedays. Looking ahead to August, don’t miss Ministry of Sound Classical on Saturday 13, complete with a 34-piece orchestra who will be playing three decades of dance after BetVictor Hungerford Day. Please do explore the site this evening and if you haven’t yet, pay a visit to the first floor of the Berkshire Stand which has recently been refurbished and offers a fantastic terrace with views of the paddock as well as a dedicated Gin Bar. If you are looking to enjoy a gin and tonic or non-alcoholic variation, make sure to head to our Gin Bar located on the Crafty Filly terrace where you will be able to try a selection of cocktails and over 30 speciality gins. It is worth noting that there are four speciality cocktails available to purchase which include the delicious Highclere Negroni which is a special from a recently launched new partnership with Highclere Castle Gin. Thank you for choosing to spend your evening with us. I hope you have an enjoyable and profitable time, and that you will be back with us again very soon. Julian Thick Chief Executive

How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betfred Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number. 2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: • ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. • ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. • What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places. • The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure! 3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Please gamble responsibly. A reproduction of that effort should see her win today. Al Kaaser could exploit any lack of fitness she shows, but still needs to improve to reverse the form from when they last met at this trip. Drying ground will definitely increase Abiyah Athbah’s chances, whilst Ekleel Athbah and Mayfair are relatively unexposed and open to improvement, both will have to step up on previous efforts to win.

30 YEARS OF GREAT SERVICE To the Sewage, Waste & Clean Water Pumping Industry
THE PUMP TECHNOLOGY STORY: After working in the pump industry for many years, I established Pump Technology Ltd in 1992 in response to the unserviced demand for mid-range systems to pump sewage, waste and clean water. I sourced the best pumps and custom built systems to suit individual needs. The company quickly expanded to offer commercial and industrial systems. To maintain the quality and supply of tanks used with our systems I set up Pegasus Pumps, who now produce tanks from 300mm³ to chambers 2.1m diameter and 5m+ deep. Over the years I have gathered a team of dedicated, experienced professionals who pride themselves on attention to detail. Our success is built on high quality products, comprehensive knowledge and sound advice coupled with our unique service and technical support. RACE 7
Race Summary: A decidedly tricky finale in which AMATHUS is put forward as the tentative selection. Patrick Chamings’ charge wasn’t seen to best effect when sixth over C&D just over a fortnight ago (denied clear run 2f out) and with his mark continuing to ease, he can notch career victory number 3. Swiss Pride regained the winning thread at Lingfield last month so he’s feared most from this lower turf mark, ahead of Gilt Edge and stable-switcher Juan Les Pins.
