JUMPS SEASON FINALE SATURDAY 2 APRIL OFFICIAL RACECARD £4.00 COMPLIMENTARY - NOT FOR RESALE

OPENING SPRING 2022

We would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing patience while the refurbishment of the Long Room Bar and Kitchen on the first floor of the Berkshire Stand takes place. Following the major redevelopment of our outdoor areas across the site, our attention is now focused on upgrading some of our indoor spaces and bars, which is also based on customer feedback and data which we are confident will improve your experience with us. The newly refurbished Long Room Paddock Bar and Long Room Racetrack Bar will also feature a dedicated Gin Bar as well as a Premium upgrade space with ample lounge and poseur seating.

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to the second day of the BetVictor Jumps Season Finale Meeting and the closing day of our 2021/22 Jumps season. Today’s racing is out of the top drawer, featuring some hugely competitive racing on a card that showcases some stars of the future. The British EBF BetVictor RacingtohelpUkraine.uk Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Final, fulfils a hugely important role in the programme for mares who go jump racing whilst the BetVictor Bumper is certain to throw up many a good horse. My thanks go to all of today’s sponsors, the European Breeders Fund, and the family of John Haine, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, Alex and Elaine Ashburner and to BetVictor, who are title sponsors of the two-day fixture. We are delighted to bring back our own Awards, The Newburys in association with Conundrum HR Consulting, that celebrate some of the leading stars of the season. Throughout the afternoon, we will be recognising the winning-most owner, trainer, jockey and conditional jockey as well as awarding the yard who has won the Best Turned Out the greatest number of times this season. It is not long now until the Peter O’Sullevan Lambourn Open Day which takes place on Good Friday, 15 April. If you are interested in a chance to see behind the scenes at one of the UK’s major racehorse training centres, then I would highly recommend a visit. Tickets are available at the discounted price of £10 via our website or in Lambourn on the day. It’s certainly worth planning your Easter as our own Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Weekend takes place on Saturday 16 (Racing Experience Day) and Sunday 17 April (Easter Sunday). We’ve two brilliant days of top-quality racing action and a whole range of activities for all the family to get involved with, including Ownership experiences, face-painting and trips and tours around the site on both days, as well as some Easter fun. Finally, we would like to raise awareness of the RacingtohelpUkraine.UK appeal which will see a convoy of horseboxes leave Lambourn on 8 April and head over to Poland and the Ukraine border taking much needed supplies to the refugees as well as 100,000 horses which are currently starving. Initiated by Charlie Mann, please do visit the website for further information. Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our racegoers for joining us today and that you have enjoyed the 2021/22 Jump season with us. We’ve certainly enjoyed having you back. Julian Thick Chief Executive

How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betfred Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number. 2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: • ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. • ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. • What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places. • The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure! 3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Please gamble responsibly. MOMENT OF THE SEASON THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE Over the last week, the racing public have been voting for their ‘Moment of the Season’ from our stand out shortlist of six. The result was never in doubt, with Stage Star the runaway winner. Paul Nicholls exciting novice, won twice at Newbury this season. His most emphatic win coming over the Festive period, where he won by 6 1/2 lengths in the Grade One Challow Hurdle.

The Best Turned Out Award recognises the yard that has won the most Best Turned Out prizes across the season. Currently Ben Pauling and Nicky Henderson are tied for the lead, but it is far from over!

Betting

Laying of bets is subject to Racecourse terms and conditions. The Betting Ring Manager is located in the Grandstand ground floor, opposite Donna Italia, today. Customers of the boards and rails bookmakers should check their itemised tickets immediately on receipt, as mistakes cannot be rectified after the ‘off’.

Collecting your winnings: If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the ‘Weighed in’ announcement has been made. There may still be a Steward’s Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses may be disqualified. With Bookmakers: A late pay service is available in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY. With the Tote: Winning tickets not claimed on the course can be redeemed by returning your winning ticket to: Britbet, Customer Services, Aintree Racecourse, Princess Royal Stand, Ormskirk Road, Liverpool L9 5AS
