We would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing patience while the refurbishment of the Long Room Bar and Kitchen on the first floor of the Berkshire Stand takes place. Following the major redevelopment of our outdoor areas across the site, our attention in now focused on upgrading some of our indoor spaces and bars, which is also based on customer feedback and data which we are confident will improve your experience with us. The newly refurbished Long Room Paddock Bar and Long Room Racetrack Bar will also feature a dedicated Gin Bar as well as a Premium upgrade space with ample lounge and poseur seating.

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to BetVictor’s Opening Jumps Weekend here at Newbury. This is always an interesting two days of Jumping action with some top feature races, and our thanks extend to BetVictor for their generous and continued support of this weekend’s fixture. This weekend marks the start of a renewed year of a major partnership with BetVictor who, in total, will sponsor 45 races across 13 of our racedays in 2022. Further thanks go to our additional sponsors on the day, West Berkshire Mencap, Focus and Racing TV. I would like to thank all our racegoers for their patience while the refurbishment of the Long Room Bar and Kitchen on the first floor of the Berkshire Stand takes place. It will be out of action until the Spring and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would like to see what the planned changes will look like, the team on the Ground Floor reception will be able to show you the revised layout which we are very excited about. Annual Members will continue to be able to access the Lockinge and Carnarvon Rooms during this period. Last year we launched some new hospitality areas, including the popular Lounge 303 which offers a shared hospitality space with fantastic views overlooking the course and the action. This is also getting a new look and will be ready for Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials weekend which this year takes place over Easter on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April and we’ve got two days of action packed family fun on offer which starts with our Racing Experience Day. Importantly, Kids Under 18 are free across both days. Finally, thank you for choosing to spend your day with us. I hope you have an enjoyable and profitable afternoon and that we will see many of you again tomorrow for the second day of the BetVictor Weekend and another day of highly competitive jump racing. How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betfred Betting Shops, located on the ground ﬂoor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number. 2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: • ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. • ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. • What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places. • The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure! 3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? Terms & Conditions Abandonment Policy

Tickets, Badges & Special Offers - in the event of racing being abandoned refunds on admission tickets purchased will be paid as follows: a) abandonment before completion of the first race – full refund; b) abandonment before completion of the third race – 50% refund; c) abandonment thereafter – no refund. Newbury Racecourse will not refund the cost of racecard purchases in the event of abandonment. Cash cannot be refunded on the day. Racegoers should send their tickets (as proof of purchase) for a refund to Newbury Racecourse plc, Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire, RG14 7NZ. Hennessy & Racegoers Restaurant - If the meeting is abandoned two hours prior to the first race a credit note will be issued. If abandoned before the start of racing, the client has a choice – either transfer the booking to another meeting or continue with meal. To transfer booking to another equivalent meeting, the badge /ticket must be returned. Hospitality Boxes. If the meeting is abandoned prior to the first race or before lunch has been served a FULL REFUND is given. If racing is abandoned once lunch has been taken – 50% REFUND, if abandoned between 1st and 3rd race – 25% REFUND; abandoned after the 3rd race – NO REFUND. Please note proof of purchase (ticket or badge) must be returned to qualify for a refund in all circumstances.

Admission

All tickets, badges and other forms of entry to the Racecourse (including car parks and other surrounding areas owned by the Racecourse) are issued strictly subject to the Racecourse’s terms and conditions of entry. The terms and conditions of entry are available on request from the Racecourse Office and can be found on our website. The Racecourse has the right to refuse admission or expel an attendee where an attendee has breached or is likely to breach the terms and conditions of entry.

Betting

Laying of bets is subject to Racecourse terms and conditions. The Betting Ring Manager is located in the Grandstand ground ﬂoor, opposite Donna Italia, today. Customers of the boards and rails bookmakers should check their itemised tickets immediately on receipt, as mistakes cannot be rectiﬁed after the ‘off’.

Collecting your winnings: If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the ‘Weighed in’ announcement has been made. There may still be a Steward’s Enquiry and the ﬁrst past the post, or placed horses may be disqualiﬁed. With Bookmakers: A late pay service is available in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY. Food and drink may not be brought into the Racecourse enclosures. You are requested not to take bottles or glasses outside bar and restaurant areas.
