FESTIVE RACEDAY

WEDNESDAY 15 DECEMBER OFFICIAL RACECARD £4.00 COMPLIMENTARY - NOT FOR RESALE

LOOK OUT FOR OUR CHRISTMAS JUMPER SPOTTERS TO WIN INSTANT PRIZES THROUGHOUT THE DAY!

Good morning and a very warm welcome to the BetVictor Festive Raceday, our penultimate raceday of 2021. We thank you in advance for your patience with us following the government’s recent move to Plan B with COVID certification now mandatory for large venues. Proof of a COVID vaccination passport or negative lateral flow test via the NHS app is now required in order to gain entry and this will also be in place for our final fixture of 2021 on Wednesday 29 December, for those of you who will be joining us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank today’s sponsors, BetVictor and Prodec Networks for their generous and ongoing support. We have some great racing coming up today, including the Listed Make Your Best Bet at BetVictor Mares’ Chase at 2.00, a race with a fantastic roll of honour. Magic of Light was a stand out winner, having won the previous three renewals of the race. Looking back, the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival really was the stand out of our jumps season so far, and it was fantastic to welcome back so many racegoers to cheer home some winners. Cloudy Glen was an emotional winner of the Ladbrokes Trophy, cementing the late Trevor Hemmings as the leading owner of the race and providing Charlie Deutsch with another top class victory. All tickets for the remainder of the 2021/22 Jumps Season are now on sale through our website, including Betfair Super Saturday, a chance to see some of the champions of the season ahead of the Cheltenham Festival. Thank you for choosing to spend your day with us. I hope you have an enjoyable and profitable time, and that you will be back with us again very soon. Julian Thick Chief Executive

How To Bet There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betfred Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number. 2. Choose your bet – ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types: • ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. • ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet. • What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places. • The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure! 3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet. 4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”. 5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings! 6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard. Please gamble responsibly. Race Summary: POETIC MUSIC fetched £60,000 following a taking winning debut (with a brace of next-time-out winners in behind ) for John Butler in October, and though she has to concede weight to largely unknown quantities, the percentage call is that she will be up to the job. Design Flaw and Up And Out are perhaps the pick of the newcomers.
