The Track

A RIGHT-HANDED OVAL CIRCUIT ALMOST A MILE AND A QUARTER IN EXTENT, WHICH JOINS THE STRAIGHT FIVE FURLONGS COURSE HALF-A-MILE FROM HOME. THE BENDS ARE SHARP, PUTTING BIG, LONG-STRIDING TYPES AT A SLIGHT DISADVANTAGE.

The feature race of today’s meeting is the titular Edinburgh Cup Handicap Stakes. Raced over 1m, eleven take to e St the track for this exciting contest. Ian Williams’ Dancing In Paris looks one to watch after a hard fought victory at ck contest t Haydock back in April followed by a strong second at Sandown last time out. Old Smoke was a hugely comfortable winner of a Thirsk novice in April before unfortunately being hampered in the BetVictor London Gold Cup at hamper Newbury last month. Richard Fahey’s gelding is clearly on the up. BILLY GARRITTY has already notched a pair of winners at Musselburgh g Stakes (2.30) who has a good chance as well as riding this term. He has two rides today with Sankari in the Selling wh milarly, JOE FANNING has been in great form this season, scoring outsider Venetian in the feature race (3.40) Similarly, bee h. He has five rides today including Manigordo in the second, who should do well. fourteen times in the last month. He also rides Gareeb in the Edinburgh Cup, who cannot be discounted DANIEL SHEEHY has been in sneaky good form of late and he takes the ride on Iato’s Angel, who could be a bit of a dark horse in the Edinburgh Cup. o’s o

Leading course trainer KEITH DALGLEISH has had a great start to the season, with four winners already at this course, continuing his run on top in the Edinburgh Gin Championship. He saddles two here with Gioia Cieca (1.50) as well as Iato’s Angel (3.40) who could well be one to watch. KARL BURKE is right behind him in the Championship race however and saddles three of his own today Liamarty Dreams (1.50), Churros (2.30) and Fast Response (3.05) Both the former and the latter have a good shot at victory and could be enough to take him to the top of the leaderboard. RICHARD HANNON has only saddled one at Musselburgh so far this season, Love Billy Boy who scored here in April, giving him a 100% record at this course this season Heredia (3.05) looks likely to continue that record
