A RIGHT-HANDED OVAL CIRCUIT ALMOST A MILE AND A QUARTER IN EXTENT, WHICH JOINS THE STRAIGHT FIVE FURLONGS COURSE HALF-A-MILE FROM HOME. THE BENDS ARE SHARP, PUTTING BIG, LONG-STRIDING TYPES AT A SLIGHT DISADVANTAGE.
The Join Racing TV Now Handicap Stakes is today's feature race and is for the sprinters, over this fiery e 5f trip Last time out winner and top weight Havagomecca heads the betting after scoring here over t this course and distance and has subsequently been raised 5lb for that success. Primo's Comet followed se th her home and will be hoping to turn the form around off an unchanged mark. Riversway (third) and unc Lady Lade (fifth) also contested that race last time out and will be looking to turn the tables with the market ady look leader Sound Of Iona has been contesting races stronger than this and should run better in this company, a um and Sheikh Maz Mahood can't be discounted either. while course and distance scorers Eeh Bah Gum Sheikh Mah
CONNOR BEASLEY urgh this season and today holds strong claims to has already ridden three winners at Musselburgh ght-race card and rides Havagomecca in the feature race bag himself further success. He has six rides across the eight-race ri een riding well this season and often goes well here He has five rides which holds a great chance SAM JAMES has been well o s to have a great chance in the opener and it wouldn't come to any surprise should he today, but Cuban Slide looks wo ride a double on the day BEN CURTIS has been going well recently, having 8 winners in his last 55 rides, and has six chances at success today. He teams up with Charlie Johnston for a few rides and that pairing must be feared. s wi fo f
Leading course trainer this season KEITH DALGLIESH has come back firing at this early stage of the season and he has a few solid chances to extend his lead at the top of theEdinburgh Gin championship He saddles three today with Lady Lade (3.00), Gometra Ginty (3.30) and Breguet Boy (5.05). MICHAEL DODS will be hoping to find some success at York next week where he often finds success but will be looking for conquer here first. He saddles five runners today, with two chances at success in the Musselburgh Supporting Racing Welfare #mentalhealthawarnessweek Handicap Stakes with Azaim and Rockonmecca.
CHARLIE JOHNSTON's runners are always feared here, and he sends three up north but all are not without hope
This five furlongs Novice Stakes is restricted to two-year-olds but in order to take part all of the runners must meet certain conditions Unlike a maiden, which is restricted to horses yet to record a victory, winning horses which have run in a maximum of six races are eligible to run. Weights are set according to sex before previous winners are allocated penalties depending on the level at which they have been successful.
This is a seven furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds which have been rated from 46 to 55 In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.
This is a five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80 Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty
usually 6lb.
3:30 THE 100% RACING TV PROFITS BACK TO RACING HANDICAP STAKES
This is a seven furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 56 to 75 To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 75 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 70
4:00 THE RACING TV HANDICAP STAKES
This is a two miles handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60 Like most handicaps on the Flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage.
4:30 THE BET AT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP STAKES (DIV I)
This is a one mile and one furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60 Like all handicaps on today’s card this means that should a horse rated 60 take part they would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 55
5:05 THE BET AT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP STAKES (DIV II)
Some races can often prove very popular with owners and trainers and as a result more horses are declared to run than the official safety limit allows for. To avoid horses being denied a run which is obviously disappointing for connections, the British Horseracing Authority has allowed the previous race to be split into two divisions, with each contest carrying identical race conditions
5:40 THE WATCH ON RACING TV HANDICAP STAKES
Our finale is a five furlongs handicap race has been designed for three-year-olds only which are rated between 46 and 60 However, horses officially rated in excess of 60 are also eligible to take part The conditions of this race stipulate that the maximum weight to be carried by a horse rated 60 would be 9st 9lb, so should a horse rated 62 be entered to run, they would be asked to carry 2lb more than the top weight – 9st 11lb

This looks trappy and the suggestion is HOSTELRY, who shouldn’t be judged too harshly on her latest effort at Pontefract. She shaped well on her reappearance at Southwell and is now 3lb below her last winning mark. Bulls Aye lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Ayr recently and is feared most ahead of Breguet Boy and Going Underground. How Bizarre made all over a mile here 10 days ago but this 5lb higher mark will ask a question of him.

At every race meeting at Musselburgh there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action
1 723 e cours edical e Me ys t rd b y vironment, make u erected
During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys. The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the ground This does not reflect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity, in a calm environment, to mak a recovery Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erec around a fallen horse.
