Ourr feature race today is the Weatherbys Global Stallions App Handicap at 16:00 16:00. The six runner ﬁeld includes the Katie Scott-trained ained Colinton. Scott has enjoyed some recent success, with two wins frfrom her last four runners, which included one here inn the form of Gweedore earlier in the month. Can Can Girl runs for trainer tr David Brown with Ben Robinson on board. d. The four-year-old heads here on the back of a narrow win earlier in the month. The remainder of the ﬁeld includes El Picador for Keith Dalgleish, Paramaribo for Iain Jardine, Eclipse De Lunar for Tim Easterby and Let Her Loose for Richard Fahey. Fahey has been operating at a 22% strike rate for the last 14 days, incl including two winners on Monday.

JOCKEYS TO WATCH H JASON HART has enjoyed some recent success, operating at a 16% 16 strike rate for the previous two weeks. Hart heads here for ﬁve rides which include Colinton, n, Tomorrow’s An Angel and Rum Going On. DANIEL TUDHOPE heads here in good form, with nine ne winners in the those two weeks. w He is booked for two rides in the form of Markazi and Three Saints Bay. Another jockey to keep an eye on is GIANLUCA SANNA, who is operating at a 33% strike rate. He has two rides in the form of An Antagonize for Bryan Smart and Moon Bay for Richard Fahey.

TRAINERS TO WATCH KEITH DALGLEISH sends eight runners here today including Don’t Fight It, Will He Dance, Ayr Empress and Red Bond. BEN HASLAM is operating at a 25% strike rate and he has two runners here today. They are We Still Believe in the 2:50 and Cobra Kai in the 4:35. KATIE SCOTT has had a successfull April so far, with two winners from her last four runners. She has just the one runner here and that is Colinton in the 4:00 with Jason Hart on board.

RACE DESCRIPTIONS 1.50 THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 4) This six furlongs Novice Stakes is restricted to two-year-olds but in order to take part all of the runners must meet certain conditions. Unlike a maiden, which is restricted to horses yet to record a victory, winning horses which have run in a maximum of six races are eligible to run. Weights are set according to sex before previous winners are allocated penalties depending on the level at which they have been successful.

2.20 THE MILLER HOMES HANDICAP (CLASS 6) Our next race is a two mile handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their ofﬁcial handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. There might only be six runners, but three of those have already tasted success over course-and-distance, with Jim Goldie’s Primo’s Comet having recorded five of his eight career victories here at Musselburgh. The winner of this race 12 months ago, the seven-year-old went on to win twice more over course-and-distance last season and might well have needed his recent reappearance, on ground that was probably softer than ideal. A winner at this track last June, Good Luck Fox finished in front of Primo’s Comet 12 days ago, but was one place behind the third home, The Thin Blue Line. Keith Dalgleish’s four-year-old finished with a flourish on that occasion and off a 1lb higher mark, should be more than capable of going very close again. Cool Spirit is the other course-and-distance winner in the field, with the Swiss Spirit gelding successful in a 0-55 contest at this fixture in 2021. He is up in grade this afternoon and races just four days after finishing last of eight at Wetherby (reared up in stalls). The weights are headed by the nine-year-old Bossipop who has dropped in the weights since last win 11 months ago. He would probably prefer easier ground, whilst the field is made up with another four-year-old, Atiyah who made all to win at Chelmsford last month. He showed plenty of early speed that day, although it is worth noting that he has yet to win on turf. The Weatherbys Global Stallions App Handicap is another 0-80 class 4 contest, this time over an extended 1m4f. Again, just half-a-dozen go to post, with the weights (jointly) headed by El Picador. A juvenile hurdle winner here at Musselburgh, he is just 3lbs higher than when last successful on the level and this looks a weaker event than the one which he contested last time at Doncaster. Sent off favourite for that amateur riders’ event, the six-year-old faded late on, but is another who looks capable of going well for the Keith Dalgleish stable. By virtue of his recent victory at Catterick, Colinton carries a 5lbs penalty and, therefore, also runs off a mark of 74. Twice a winner for Rebecca Menzies at Wolverhampton last summer, the Red Jazz four-year-old has won three of his four starts for trainer Katie Scott and won a shade cosily just eight days ago. The handicapper raised him 5lbs for that victory, so despite him carrying a penalty here, he is actually racing off his correct mark. Can Can Girl is another last-time-out winner and also being just four, remains open to plenty of improvement. David Barron’s filly moved well to lead at Beverley earlier in the month and fended off Lord Torranaga, who gave the form a boost when winning at Southwell on Monday. Let Her Loose is the only other runner who has been sighted this season, with both Eclipse de Lunar and Paramaribo making their seasonal reappearance this afternoon. The former – a four-year-old trained by Tim Easterby – won twice over 1m5f/1m6f last summer and looked quite progressive. THURSDAY 28TH APRIL 2022 The nearest train station to Musselburgh Racecourse is Wallyford on the Edinburgh Waverley to North Berwick train line. On racedays we organise a courtesy bus from Wallyford and Newcraighall train stations to the Racecourse, returning after racing.

WALLYFORD STATION RETURNS Buses will depart from the racecourse side (north) of Linkﬁeld Road at the corner of Millhill. Two buses will operate continually between 16:30 and 17:30.

NEWCRAIGHALL TRAIN STATION RETURNS Buses to Newcraighall will depart 16:30 and 17:30. Please note there is a half hourly train service during this period but our Courtesy bus will only operate hourly. Please refer to Scotrail.co.uk for the most up to date train times for your journey. At every race meeting at Musselburgh there are three specially qualiﬁed equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of thee cours course and can attend a casualty in the same responsee time as the Medical Meedical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys. ys. The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is keptt on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is now standard rd practice for screens to be b erected around any horse receiving veterinaryy attention on the ground. This does not reﬂect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity, in a calm environment, vironment, to mak make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if youu see screens erec erected around a fallen horse.

ATM

ATM Cash Machines are located adjacent to the Bistro Bar Glass Door & Main Tote Windows. Only £20 notes and multiples thereof are dispensed. There is a £2 transaction fee charged.

CLOAKROOM

Cloakroom facilities are available in the tunnel underneath the grandstand. The cloakroom closes 30 minutes after the last race. If lost property has not been claimed 30 days following the race meeting, items will be donated to charity.
