THE TRACK A CIRCUIT OF THE TRACK IS APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE. THERE ARE 8 HURDLES AND 8 STEEPLECHASE FENCES ON EACH CIRCUIT, WITH 2 OPEN DITCHES ON THE CHASE COURSE. THE ALL-WEATHER FIBRESAND BEND WAS INSTALLED IN 2012 FOR SAETY REASONS ON THE TIGHT TOP BEND AFTER THE FINISHING LINE. THIS IS UNIQUE TO MUSSELBURGH RACECOURSE AND THE FIRST IN THE UK.

TODAY’S FEATURE TURE RACE

Our fifth race looks to be the most exciting on our six-race card. Twelve go to post in the Visit racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle, a class four event for horses rated 0-115. Top weight THE DANCING POET is havin having his fourth start over hurdles but is best known forr his flat success. He’s finished first, third and fourth over hurdles so providing p he continues this upward curve, he should ould be right there. RAE DES CHAMPS is toward the front of the market for f Rose Dobbin. At only five, she has only had ad the three career starts and is very unexposed. A point-to-point graduate, sshe will be looking to get a one next to her name after a good third behind Lady Adare last time up. SARYSHAGANN is th the pick of the inform Ryan Mania for Sandy Thompson. A consistent runner, he is sure to be rightt up there come the finish af after the handicapper has given him a chance.

JOCKEYS TO WATCH H RYAN MANIA had a big win on Saturday in the Eider Chase aboard aboa on With My Wings and has four rides on today’s card. For a man in flying form, he will be disappointed sappointed if he ccan’t get at least one winner with a couple of good looking rides on paper. Derek ek Fox has three rides, and all al are single figure odds. It could be a big day for Lucinda Russell’s ell’s retained rider, with Emirat De Catana lo looking to be his best chance on the day. Our final race is a Hunter Chase and as such is ridden my amate amateur jockeys, keep an eye on MR NICK ORPWOOD, who is riding the favourite rite in our finale. fin

TRAINERS TO WATCH BRIAN ELLISON sends four to the track today, including the favourite in our third race of the day. He’s booked Brian Hughes on the nine-year-old mare, who is looking to bring up a hattrick. She faces stiff competition in the form of Nick Alexanders Cancan. LAURA MORGAN can do little wrong at the moment and as such the bookmakers have priced up her runners quite short. Champ Is Real is the odds-on favourite and Clear The Runway looks as though he could go odds-on in our second race. He is trying to defy a 7lb penalty but for an inform stable, he must have an excellent chance.

RACE DESCRIPTIONS 1.45 THE BET AT RACINGTV.COM MAIDEN HURDLE (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) Our first race of the day is a Maiden hurdle. The term ‘maiden’ inspires thoughts of damsels in distress but in horse racing terms it takes on a different meaning. When a horse is referred to as a maiden, be it a colt or a filly, it simply means that they have yet to win a race. Many of the runners aged four-years-old and upwards in this two miles and five furlongs race will still be inexperienced over hurdles and almost certainly improve for the racecourse experience that they gain today.

2.20 THE JOIN RACING TV NOW HANDICAP CHASE (CLASS 5) (GO NORTH MONET’S GARDEN SERIES QUALIFIER) This is a two miles, about two furlongs handicap chase race for ﬁve-year-olds and upwards, which have been rated from 0 to 100. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their ofﬁcial handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 60 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 170..

2.55 THE EVERY RACE LIVE ON RACING TV MARES’ HANDICAP HURDLE (CLASS 4)(GO NORTH LADY BUTTONS SERIES FINAL QUALIFIER) This is a two miles and four furlongs handicap hurdle race for four-year-old mares’ and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 110. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their ofﬁcial handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 60 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 170.

3.30 THE RACECOURSE LIVE STREAMS ON RACING TV EXTRA HANDICAP CHASE (CLASS 5) This is a three mile handicap chase race for ﬁve-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 105. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their ofﬁcial handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than lower rated rival. 4.05 THE VISIT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP HURDLE (CLASS 4) (GO NORTH SEA PIGEON SERIES QUALIFIER) This is a two mile handicap hurdle race for four-year-old’s and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 115. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their ofﬁcial handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 60 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 170.

4.35 THE RACING TV PROFITS RETURNED TO RACING OPEN HUNTERS’ CHASE (CLASS 5)(CORINTHIAN SPRINT QUALIFIER) Our final race of the day is a hunter chase. A Hunter Chase gives the regulars of the Point-to-Pointing world a chance to shine under National Hunt rules. A horse is only qualified for this type of event if it holds a Hunters’ Certificate, something provided by a Master of Hounds to prove that the horse has been regularly hunted throughout the season. This particular event is for five-year-olds and upwards, and is to be run just under three milles. All Hunter Chases are restricted to amateur jockeys.

HORSE CARE AT MUSSELBURGH

Our shuttlee buses run every 10 minutess to and from the Racecourse se car park up until un the secondd race and they restart resta after the fourth th race. The bus stop is located on thee corner of Millhill Millhi and Balcarres Place ace

At every race meeting at Musselburgh there are three specially qualiﬁed equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of thee cours course and can attend a casualty in the same responsee time as the Medical Meedical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys. ys. The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is keptt on all horses, especially those returning after a race. It is now standard rd practice for screens to be b erected around any horse receiving veterinaryy attention on the ground. This does not reﬂect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity, in a calm environment, vironment, to mak make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if youu see screens erec erected around a fallen horse.

ATM Cash Machines are located adjacent to the Bistro Bar Glass Door & Main Tote Windows. Only £20 notes and multiples thereof are dispensed. There is a £2 transaction fee charged.

CLOAKROOM

Cloakroom facilities are available in the tunnel underneath the grandstand. The cloakroom closes 30 minutes after the last race. If lost property has not been claimed 30 days following the race meeting, items will be donated to charity.
