Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

Each of the septet have legitimate claims, though recent maiden winner HIGH FIBRE may have the scope for most improvement having been fairly useful on the Flat (stayed 1 1/4m), now tackling a longer trip on handicap debut. Connections of course winner Bannister have likely had one eye on this race and he should go well following an encouraging reappearance at Aintree, with Letterston Lady respected having looked as good as ever since returning from an absence.

Tongue Strap worn by No 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No 3, 4.

Running for the first time since Wind Surgery No 7. Stewards Note:

NACHTGEIST: Following its run on 28/11/2024 it was reported that the horse was never travelling.

CHOIRMASTER: Following its run on 25/9/2023 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run.

Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Buxted Reel (IRE), 4-1 Market House (IRE), 5-1 Nachtgeist (IRE), 11-2 Gms Prince (GB), 9-1 Game Beaaa (IRE), 10-1 Choirmaster (GB), 16-1 Malinheadsearovers (IRE), 50-1 Red Trail (IRE)

Most of the 8 runners in with a chance, marginal preference is for MARKET HOUSE on only second hurdles start forJames Owen, having thrived on the Flat since joining the yard that does so well with new recruits. Gms Prince remains a maiden but so often runs creditably here, so she should be in the mix again along with potential improvers Buxted Reel and Nachtgeist.

Hally’s Kitchen

Official equine ambassador for Market Rasen Racecourse

Hally’s Kitchen retired in 2020 following an unsuccessful National Hunt career while in training with Justin Landy, she ran nine times under rules and once in a point-to-point without troubling the judge. She is now owned by Samantha Hunt and is excelling in the show ring!

Hally (as she is known) has competed in several high profile shows including the RoR finals at Hickstead and in an SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifier at Burghley Horse Trials.

Samantha describes Hally as kind and laid-back - she loves cuddles and being groomed!

Retraining of Racehorses

RoR is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. The charity offers education for owners, establishes retraining practices and promotes the versatility of former racehorses in competitions across various disciplines.

The Horses for Courses scheme, supported by Godolphin, showcases the wide range of disciplines that racehorses go on to enjoy after their racing careers have ended, providing racegoers with an ongoing opportunity to meet and learn more about racing’s biggest stars – the horses!
