11 FAST DEAL (GB) (31)

19l 18l

Raceday preview from Weatherbys It is a real pleasure to be sponsoring two races across the card this afternoon at Market Rasen, including the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Hurdle. Course winner Blue Bikini won on her only start at the track when surging to a comfortable six-and-a-half length success over the intermediate trip last April. Fergal O’Brien’s eight-year-old looked in desperate need of the run stepped up in trip at Chepstow upon seasonal return but came on greatly for the effort to record an impressive victory over the extended trip at Catterick last time out. The top-weighted Royal Pretender has run well on all three visits to Market Rasen and Alan King’s eightyear-old recorded an excellent second at Exeter back in October, form that has been boosted. He must bounce back from a rare poor effort last time but will benefit from Oscar Palmer’s 10lb claim. Top Cloud is likely to be popular here as the seven-year-old has won four of his five starts this term since joining the Robbie Llewellyn stable. With his first victory coming at Stratford from a mark of 84, his latest victory at Ascot came from a mark of 95 in a strong handicap full of progressive novices. The form of that race has worked out well too, with both the third and fifth winning on their next start. The Listed Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Alan Swinbank Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race looks a fascinating contest and features the smart mare Dysart Enos among the roll of honour. Fergal O’Brien, the trainer of last year’s winner, is represented by impressive Point-to-Point scorer Northern Air. The daughter of Vendangeur won easily and commanded £105,000, so it will be interesting to see how she runs on rules

debut. The other rules debutant lining up will be Diva Luna for the in-form Ben Pauling, who finished runner-up in her sole Point-to-Point start back in October. The dam is a half-sister to 150-rated chaser Longhouse Poet and the Diamond Boy mare is a half-sister to useful hurdler Della Casa Lunga.

There is likely further progression to come. Anthony Honeyball’s four-year-old, Park Princess, is likely to be popular in the market on the back of a mightily impressive bumper debut in which the daughter of Walk In The Park quickened right away from a big field to win at Newbury. She won in the style of a real smart prospect and should prove tough to beat here receiving weight. Avakate could well set the standard, judging by the form of her Listed success at Doncaster. The six-year-old travelled powerfully into the contest from the rear on her first start for Alan King and has the experience edge over most of these, although does have to have to shoulder a penalty. Dan Skelton’s Listentoyourheart is out of a dual bumper winner and showed plenty of promise when chasing home Avakate at Doncaster. The five-year-old benefits from a 7lb swing in the weights and must hold solid claims if stepping forward again. Jamie Snowden’s Audacious Annie is a half-sister to the yard’s star mare You Wear It Well and created a good impression when winning on debut at Wetherby despite displaying plenty of greenness. This requires more up in grade, but she will no doubt have learned plenty for the experience.

Avakate did the job well when seeing off Listentoyourheart at Doncaster and there PLAY SMARTER shouldn’t be much between them on these terms. Northern Air, an easy winner of her sole start between the flags, is an intriguing candidate for last year’s winning yard, too.
