ONE MAN PARTY looked menacing when falling 3 out on his recent handicap debut and might be worth siding with in a race where few arrive with compelling claims. There were better signs from Syr Maffos at Taunton last time so he’s a possible threat, while Kingfast hasn’t been with the Fergal O’Brien stable for long and this return to a shorter trip should help

PLAY SMARTER
MY BROTHER JACK hardly looked at home on more testing ground than previously after 5 months off when third at Sedgefield 4 weeks ago, so much better is expected of him now returned to more suitable conditions. He gets the narrow vote over standard-setter Carrarea in what is likely to prove a match unless Tommouse takes a step forward.

PLAY SMARTER
The vote goes to FRENCHY DU LARGE, who pulled clear of the third (Ladronne) when runner-up in a competitive Haydock handicap and a reproduction ofthat effort would give him every chance. Betty Baloo was pretty impressive over C&D last month, even allowing for the fact that she was probably seen to best effect, and Tim Easterby’s charge is feared most ahead of Fidux.

Market Rasen racegoers havethe opportunityto enjoyhorse racing in surroundings second to none, almost entirely due to the foresight and meticulous planning ofVictor Lucas.
Faced with a range of buildings previously used to accommodate POW’s during wartime Victor Lucas gradually constructed a facility of which we can all be justly proud.
Victor Lucas acted in official capacity as Clerk of the Course and/or Auctioneer at many different racecourses up and down the country, he brought back with him valuable experience to his beloved Market Rasen. Priority was given to a) ensure the whole Track could be seen from all enclosures, b) that the Parade Ring be situated between the Buildings and Course, accessible to all racegoers, c) Family Racing be promoted by providing a Children’s Playground and a picnic area. These amenities still in place today and been upgraded as time has passed.
Victor Lucas masterminded the sale of the racecourse in 1967 to a subsidiary of the Jockey Club, whereby racing could continue at Market Rasen, ‘for as far as the eye could see’
The Lucas family have been involved at Market Rasen ever since the sale, providing invaluable support and ensuring its future as an inextricable link to the past.

TANGANYIKA: Following its run on 25/3/2023 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run.
Probable S.P’s: 4-1 Zestful (GB), 9-2 Some Scope (GB), 6-1 Hashtag Boum (FR), 15-2 Ballintubber Boy (IRE), 9-1 Sayadam (FR), 10-1 Giovanni Change (FR), 12-1Tanganyika (FR), 14-1 ExmoorForest (IRE), 16-1 Baddesley (IRE) PLAY
The unexposed SOME SCOPE did the job well when making a winning handicap debut at Haydock and, with the promise of better to come from this 5-y-o, he is pretty appealing. Zestful lost no caste in defeat when finding just one too good in Listed company at Cheltenham and she is second choice. Third on the list is Hashtag Boum, who should remain competitive following a 6lb rise for her Kelso breakthrough success.
