THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

Welcome to Market Rasen for our Family Extravaganza Raceday in association with Deafblind UK. We are delighted to be hosting the UK’s first ever ‘sensory’ raceday experience today and hope that all of those joining us can make the most of the dedicated areas available to those living with sight and hearing loss. I would like to take this chance to thank Deafblind UK for their support of today’s raceday, and encourage anyone who can to donate to their cause when departing the racecourse. A dedicated area next to the last fence will enhance the sensory experience for those with audio or visual impairments. Racecourse commentary supported by a professional signer can be seen on the large screen and Racing TV. Commentary for both race 3 & 5 are based on more of a sensory experience, tack and silks will be on display near weighing room and there will be a jockeys talk after the first race on ‘How does it feel to ride a racehorse’. We hope that all racegoers can enjoy the excitement and adrenaline of today’s races. There is entertainment for all ages to enjoy on Family Extravaganza Raceday with inflatables, face painting, kids racecards and animal encounters with ZooLab & Rand Farm Park. All activities are located within the Lawn Enclosure. Thank you for joining us to support this worthy cause, we hope you enjoy your day and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. TOMMY COOPER Chairman, Market Rasen racecourse

Market Rasen Racecourse is delighted to welcome DeafBlind UK as their current charity partner of the year. To mark this partnership, on Family Extravaganza race day in association with DeafBlind UK both parties have worked together to host the UK’s first-ever “sensory” raceday experience aimed at those living with sight and hearing loss. The partnership has led to this exciting new innovation which will see the big screens featuring a sign language interpreter as part of race commentary for racing today. In addition, a dedicated area will be created by the last fence to enhance the sensory experience for those with audio or visual impairments and for two races the commentator and raceday presenter will be briefed specifically to create extra descriptive details aimed at those who are visually impaired. A jockey will also speak to racegoers on the sensory aspects of race riding and their experiences. Deafblindness is the loss of sight and hearing to the point where your communication, mobility, and ability to access information are impacted. Steve Conway, CEO of Deafblind UK said: “There are thousands of people living with sight and hearing loss in the UK, for whom horse racing brings as much excitement and adrenaline as it does to everyone else. This partnership means that we can help more people who are living with deafblindness to enjoy horse racing and other sports. Joe Callan. Interim General Manager at Market Rasen, commented: “Whilst good progress has been made for racegoers with disabilities in recent years there is still plenty to do, and one area in need of work is the experience for those with audio and visual impairments. “There is activity taking place across racing involving the RCA, Live Tourism and others designed to enhance the customer experienced for those living with disability and assess the customer experience from this perspective. “We are excited to be enhancing the raceday experience for our audio and visually impaired visitors this Sunday with the ‘sensory’ raceday experience as part of our Family Extravaganza Raceday. We will also be donating £1 from every pre-booked ticket to the Charity”

PLAY SMARTER

First-time blinkers worked wonders for LANDEN CALLING when he opened his account at Uttoxeter in April, and having posted a couple of solid efforts in defeat there since, he’s fancied to notch career victory number 2 with his yard continuing to rack up the winners. Mac Suibhne is clearly a different animal for his new yard so he gets the nod for second, with Belvedere Blast completing the shortlist.

PLAY SMARTER

TOMONA has shaped encouragingly twice and, under a more positive ride than last time, she should be able to open her account unless Sea Poem proves to be an above-average newcomer. Emily Wade arrives on the back of a solid first effort and is worthy of consideration.
