I would firstly like to personally welcome our sponsors for today’s fixture, notably H.R.Smith, KLF Insurance, the Oliver family, the Williams family, the Corrie family and lastly the Pugh family. Your support is greatly appreciated. The number of runners is still disappointing, but we have again been blighted with a shortage of rain Hopefully we are beginning to turn the corner as Autumn starts to arrive and the grass growth slows down with cooler evenings, so leaving more moisture in the ground.
You will notice that the first race on the card today is named after the Ludlow Racecourse Racing Club. The club is open to everyone, to enjoy yard visits, social events and most importantly being involved with Windsor Blue trained by Henry Daly. Windsor Blue ran promisingly in two bumpers last season, had her first run over hurdles recently and will have gained a lot of experience to take forward this season. For more information on joining the racing club, feel free to ask in the office today.
I hope you all have a fun day at the races today, and hope to see you all back here for Farmers’ Day on Thursday 6th November!
Simon Sherwood
(Managing Director/Clerk of the Course)

NOTE:
HOW TO BET WITH AN ON-COURSE BOOKMAKER
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to offer the correct stake money for your wager.
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, i.e. for a win or a place
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g.£1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

9-4 Yes Day (IRE), Histrionic (IRE), 7-2 D’Jo Dela Barriere (FR), 9-2 Pike Road (GB)
Race Summary:
None of the quartet can be ruled out but it could pay to side with Paul Nicholls’ winning Irish pointer HISTRIONIC to return in style and make a successful start in this sphere. Yes Day rates a big danger provided he is none the worse for a heavy recent fall over C&D, while both D’Jo Dela Barriere and Pike Road can have a say too.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
