REA VALLEY TRACTORS FARMERS DAY Welcome to Ludlow Races for the first Farmers Day we have hosted here on course. The rain continues causing numerous raceday cancellations around the country, hence we have an eight race day card to try and catch up some lost races. Many thanks to Rea Valley Tractors for being our main sponsor. Rea Valley Tractors is a trusted tractor and agricultural equipment dealer for New Holland, JCB and Kuhn Farm Machinery with seven branches covering Shropshire, Staffordshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Mid & North Wales. Head over to the Fairway Green where they have their stand. You will also find Brassington Agri exhibiting over there too. Thanks also goes to the NFU Mutual, A.R.A., Andy Parker Family, Templar Medical and Ozzies Done All the Courses for their sponsorship. I would also like to welcome Jules Hudson to Ludlow, who will be talking in the Windsor Marquee regarding country matters and a big thanks to the Ludlow Hunt in parading their hounds prior to racing. Please do go and explore the shopping stalls we have in the Windsor Marquee today too. It is so important to keep marketing racings’ close connection to the countryside and to maintain that close bond. We intend to make the Farmers Day an annual Day in our season. I hope you have a good days racing and see you all back on the 27th November.
Best Wishes, Simon Sherwood (Managing Director/Clerk of the Course)

HOW TO BET WITH AN ON-COURSE BOOKMAKER 1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to offer the correct stake money for your wager. 2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet. 3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings. 4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, i.e. for a win or a place. 5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights.
EACH WAY BETTING The RCA and the bookmaking association have agreed the following terms for all bookmakers offering each way betting on course. NON-HANDICAPS 5 - 7 runners; One quarter the odds 1,2 8+ runners; One fifth the odds 1,2,3 HANDICAPS 5 - 7 runners; One quarter the odds 1,2 8 - 11 runners; One fifth the odds 1,2,3 12 - 15 runners; One quarter the odds 1,2,3 16+ runners; One quarter the odds 1,2,3,4 All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g.£1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

Race Summary: CHOCCABLOC pulled clear of the rest when narrowly outpointed on his recent hurdles debut at this course and, with this step up in trip likely to help unlock improvement, he will take plenty of stopping. PLAY SMARTER The Doyen Chief did the job well when making a successful start under Rules in a Hereford bumper and he could have a bright future in this sphere, while Goonhilly is best of the rest. VIEWING ON COURSE
Would all patrons please note that while any race is in progress no person is allowed on the course except Racecourse Ground Staff and First Aid Attendants. All other persons must stay behind the running rails. THIS INCLUDES OWNERS, TRAINERS, JOCKEYS, PRESS and PHOTOGRAPHERS.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
PUBLIC EVACUATION PROCEDURE PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
In the unlikely event that the racecourse buildings need to be evacuated please read the following information for your own safety. The Racecourse Management will only take such action if an emergency situation arises such as a FIRE or BOMB THREAT and all decisions taken will place public safety as a priority. If an evacuation is necessary the following announcement will be made over the PA system: “THIS IS A SECURITY MESSAGE. IT IS NECESSARY FOR ALL PERSONS TO LEAVE THE RACECOURSE BUILDINGS AND WALK TO THE GOLF COURSE IN THE CENTRE OF THE COURSE”. Unless otherwise instructed ALL members of the public will be evacuated to this area. There will be NO access to either the Annual Members or Owners & Trainers Car Parks. No vehicles will be allowed to leave the site until allowed by the Police so as to keep surrounding roads clear for Emergency vehicles. In the event that the evacuation is cancelled or it is safe for the public to return a further announcement will be made. At all times the Management and Staff will try and keep you informed. Thank you for your co-operation.
