Welcome to Ludlow Racecourse and let’s hope the weather is kinder to us than last week. We knew we were going to get a lot of rain, but not 23mm! Which started at 9am and continued for the whole day. Puddles appeared where we had not seen them before and likewise leaks. We needed the rain but ideally not on a race day.
I would like to welcome our sponsors for the day: Ludlow Brewery Flowfit
Marsh Commercial Oracle Dental
Perrot Properties
G.C.Rickards Ltd
We hope they enjoy their day and come back for another visit.
We have done some repairs to the course crossing so hopefully that will be an improvement since last week.
We have one more fixture in December the “Tanners Christmas meeting” so look forward to seeing you all then with £100,000 up for grabs and lots of festive spirit. A great day for the family to see the Christmas Holidays in.
Best Wishes, Simon Sherwood (Managing Director/Clerk of the Course).

HOW TO BET WITH AN ON-COURSE BOOKMAKER
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to offer the correct stake money for your wager.
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, i.e. for a win or a place
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g.£1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
EACH WAY BETTING
The RCA and the bookmaking association have agreed the following terms for all bookmakers offering each way betting on course.
NON-HANDICAPS
5 7 runners; One quarter the odds 1,2 8+ runners; One fifth the odds 1,2,3 HANDICAPS

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
PUBLIC EVACUATION PROCEDURE PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
In the unlikely event that the racecourse buildings need to be evacuated please read the following information for your own safety. The Racecourse Management will only take such action if an emergency situation arises such as a FIRE or BOMB THREAT and all decisions taken will place public safety as a priority.
