Leicester Racecard - Saturday 5th July

Page 1

A big welcome to Dark Horse Ladies Day– featuring Mark Wright with Sophie Ellis -Bextor Headlining.

We are back to our usual date of the 1st Saturday in July following our clash with Kasabian and The Euros and back to our usual format of racing first followed by Best Dressed and live music.

Important points to note today are:

Please pay close attention to the special map within your Racecard to locate all the facilities including, numerous extra bars, toilets, seating and screens to make your experience as memorable as ever We even have a FREE to ride Ferris wheel located next to the Trackside Marquee within zone 3. Please be reminded that Bars and food outlets will close as soon as the music finishes around 10.15pm and the racecourse will close 20 minutes after Please ensure you book your taxis early to avoid disappointment, however there should also be plenty of taxi’s available for you outside our taxi rank which is marked clearly on the map next to Car Park A

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors today who are Dark Horse Wines: Dark Horse embodies the notion that fortune favours the bold. By definition, a dark horse is a little-known competitor who emerges to distinction; the inner drive of the mythical dark horse is what inspires our winemaking style. The Dark Horse winemaking team work side-by-side with over 400 growers to get the first picks of their harvest and taste their wines over 100 times before it is bottled. The result? Dark Horse wines has been awarded over 100 awards internationally. Enjoy a glass of award-winning our bold, complex, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon and rich, mellow, dry chardonnay today, available at select bars at Leicester Racecourse!

Everyone is looking fabulous today and for those of you who want to enter the Best Dressed competition, be sure to find the registration photo booth which is located opposite the main office. Full details of how to enter and the process including the numerous fantastic prizes can be found within the advert in this Racecard. Headline Prize this year is worth £1450 courtesy of Lumbers Jewellers.

We are excited to inform you that we have a large comfortable crowd number of approximately 7000 this year , with facilities able to accommodate 10,000, however in order to speed up service we are CASHLESS on all food and drink outlets. For those people who do not have a credit or debit card we also run a voucher system instead of cash. To purchase vouchers simply go to the MAIN OFFICE which is located next to the turnstiles. No change is needed, as our outlets are prices on all items to these denominations. Should you not use all your vouchers, please pop into the main office to exchange them back for cash by 10pm latest.

Within your racecard, you will find a map showing all the day facilities split into zones. These maps are also displayed around the racecourse and on the APP You will also find FREE factor 50 sunscreen dispensers and drinking water located around the site. Should it rain then you may purchase waterproof festival capes from the main office at £2 each. Please note we do have a limited supply but we will accept cash or card payments for these.

PLEASE SPREAD OUT Everything you need will be located within each of the 3 zones as highlighted on the map, therefore once you have found your preferred spot there will be no need to move too far There are a minimum of 14 food outlets around the site this year and most will continue serving until 10.15pm so please feed yourselves well if you are drinking and please drink responsibly.

For your added safety we have 10 first-aiders, a paramedic and an ambulance plus a crowd doctor and nearly 80 stewards. Please note the location of our First Aid units within zone 2 and zone 3 and be sure to ask for help if you need it. If you have under 18’s with you today please look after them responsibly.

Whilst Tote and most bookmakers accept cash or card, Cashback facilities are available from all Tote outlets by placing a minimum £5 bet and then taking up to £45 cashback as many times throughout the day as you like. Alternatively, you can get up to £100 cashback with your debit or credit card from the main office. Remember though, you should not actually need cash today. THERE IS NO CASH MACHINE ON SITE TODAY. We hope you have a wonderful day and evening with us and we hope to see you again for our next meeting on 17 July.

Official BHA Rating

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

★★★★★ Selected to win the race.

★★★★✩ Good chance of being placed.

★★★✩✩ By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

★★✩✩✩ Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

★✩✩✩✩ Can be given little or no chance

Official BHA Ratings

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Our easy guide to getting the most from your racecard. Our new racecard key identifies the main runner and rider elements: You must be 18 or over to place a bet

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet. If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted.

OPTIMATUM proved a totally different proposition when winning over C&D 9 days ago, quickening impressively despite still looking rough around the edges He’ll take some stopping if taking up this engagement. Pessoa has been in consistent form of late and has a lower turf mark to work with so he’s a threat, while Cuban Fiesta was headed only in the dying strides at Yarmouth recently.
