Proudly supporting LOROS as our charity of the year

Welcome to our MAY BANK HOLIDAY PICNIC AT THE RACES

We have 7 races today, the first of which is at 1.55pm and the last at 5.22pm.

This is one of only two racedays where you can bring your own picnic with you and consume your own food and alcohol within the picnic area of the racecourse. Today within that area you will also find some kiddie fairground rides and face painters which are all free of charge.

Important points to note today are:

Public bars and food stands will close today immediately following the final race and the racecourse will close shortly after.

There is walk-in space available today within the Nelson Restaurant, therefore should you be interested in a 4-course meal please pop up and speak to our friendly team.

Please take a look at the racecourse map within your racecard to familiarise yourself with our facilities and in particular the location of our first aid unit. We have 4 active first-aiders available today plus a crowd doctor for your safety.

For our loyal Owners and Trainers, we have provided the Paddock Pavilion for your food plus the Club Room and Terrace, PLUS OUR NEW PREMIER ROOMS downstairs which we encourage you to enjoy.

Annual badge holders can use the Paddock Marquee today plus use of the Club Terrace and the Paddock Pavilion for drinks.

Please be aware that we are now cashless on all bar and food outlets accepting only debit or credit cards. Please be assured that turnstiles and betting facilities will continue to accept cash for the time being. For those customers who either forget their cards or do not possess a debit card or credit card, we have special vouchers within the main office where you will be able to exchange your cash for vouchers and should you not spend your vouchers on the day you will be able to exchange them back for cash before you leave (up to 30 minutes after the last race), or use them on a future meeting.

Today these are situated at the Main Office. Please remember to purchase your Ladies Day tickets soon as they are selling fast and once gone it is unlikely that there will be any available to purchase on the day.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN TOMORROW FOR OUR STUDENT RACEDAY.

How to Read Your Racecard

Our easy guide to getting the most from your racecard. Our new racecard key identifies the main runner and rider elements:

Racecard Key

B c Montjeu (IRE) - Virgin Hawk (USA)

The Royal Ascot Racing Club

Newmarket Gerrardstown House Stud

1. Saddle Cloth Number 2. Horse Name 3. Country Code

4. Days since last run

Star Ratings Explained:

Form Figures

Jockey

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ★★★★★ Selected to win the race.

Good chance of being placed.

By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

Unlikely to win but not totally without hope

Can be given little or no chance

Official BHA Ratings

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LAVENDER BLOOM: Following its run on 28/4/2026 it was reported that the horse was slowly away.

Runner-up on her first 2 starts, LUNA CELESTE is fancied to go one better on turf debut. It’s unlikely we’ve seen the best of Reader, who has a good-value apprentice aboard for the first time, while Bundok could be interesting if the market speaks in her favour.

Horse Welfare at Leicester Racecourse

At every meeting at Leicester Racecourse there are two specially-qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. During the race one vet will be following the runners and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys The second vet is based below the stewards box in the grandstand, is in radio contact with his colleague following the runners, and can respond immediately to any uncovered emergency. In addition there is a third vet, a British Horseracing Authority Veterinary team and the stewards

The Racecourse also employs a specialist Horse Ambulance Team, equipped with a modern equine ambulance to enable injured horses to be transported safely to a veterinary hospital for treatment. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course This does not reflect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse

Evacuation Procedures

Leicester Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety & Security measures this year to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our Safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of guiding you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, where you will receive further instructions It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember: TAKE YOUR BELONGINGS WITH YOU AND UNDER THE DIRECTIONS OF THE STEWARDS, PROCEED QUICKLY & CALMLY TO THE SAFE AREA.

We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID medical unit is situated on the hard standing by the Sales Office. The designated meeting point for lost children is now in the Safety Control Office

Rules on Betting and Each Way Terms

These Rules on Betting, as amended from time to time, are issued by Tattersalls Committee The Rules on Betting were first issued in 1886 and were last revised on 17 May 2010 and the Place Terms were updated by racecourses with effect from 1 January 2015 following consultation with bookmakers. In accordance with licence conditions issued by the Gambling Commission pursuant to the Gambling Act 2005, licensees must display on their ‘joints’, in an intelligible format, any rules that differ from these Rules on Betting. A further licence condition requires all licensees to have an independent dispute resolution service On application and in accordance with the published procedures (details of which are available at www. tattersallscommittee.co.uk), Tattersalls Committee will hear any betting disputes arising from the application or interpretation of these Rules on Betting or any other betting dispute emanating from on-course transactions Rule 1. In these Rules on Betting, ‘betting’ shall have the meaning defined by section 9 of the Gambling Act 2005. Rule 2. Bets may only be amended or cancelled by mutual consent between the licensee and the backer Rule 3. Unless clearly displayed otherwise, all each-way bets except ante-post bets will be settled on the actual number of starters according to the following racecourse place terms: -

• Fewer than 3 runners—all to win

• 3 or 4 runners - all to win. Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position he may offer place terms for 3 or 4 runners this must be at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.

• 5-7 runners -1/4 odds a place 1-2

• 8 or more runners -1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

• Handicaps with 12-15 runners - 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

• Handicaps with 16-21 runners - 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4

• Handicaps with 22 or more runners - 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

Rule 4. Other than ‘first past the post’ bets, all bets will be settled according to the result as announced at the ‘Weighed-In’ with the following exceptions:

(A) Single ante-post bets, being made before 10 a.m. on the day of the final declarations will be void under the following circumstances: -

i) If the race is abandoned;

ii) If the race is declared void;

iii) If the Conditions of the race entry are changed prior to the start of the race;

iv) If the venue is altered; or

v) If a horse is eliminated under the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Rules of Racing, schedule 8 of the Race Administration Manual (F).

However, in any such circumstances accumulative ante-post bets (win or place) will stand and be settled at the ante-post price(s) laid on the remaining horse(s).

Any race in which a horse is supplemented does not affect Rule 4(A).

In the event of a race being postponed to another day, ante-post bets placed before the entries have closed will stand and will only be made void if the race is abandoned or made void, if the horse is balloted out or eliminated under the previously mentioned schedule 8 of the BHA’s Rules of Racing or if the venue is changed. Ante-post bets placed after the entries have closed will be void, except when the race is run at a later date at the same venue and entries for the race are not reopened, in which case bets will stand.

(B) Bets other than ante-post bets will be void if the race is abandoned or declared void. Bets will stand if the race is postponed to another day and final declarations stand. If the final declarations do not stand, bets will be void. Bets on a horse declared by the Starter ‘not to have started’ will be void.

(C) Where a bet has been placed and a price taken on the day of the race and there is subsequently an official notification that a horse has been withdrawn or has been declared ‘not to have started’, the liability of a layer against any horse remaining in the race, win or place, will be reduced in accordance with the following scale depending on the odds current against the withdrawn horse at the time of such official notification:
