Welcome to our Student Raceday.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our student organisers today who have done a wonderful job attracting over 2,000 students to our racecourse. We would also like to thank SIPP Café Bar who have kindly sponsored the sixth race on the card. Today you will find plenty of food and drink outlets situated within our food court area just behind the main grandstand and close to the first aid unit where we have 3 qualified first-aiders and a crowd doctor for your safety. The Nelson is a relaxed area today and designated for our students, however everyone is more than welcome.

Important points to note today are:

Public bars and food stands will close today immediately following the final race and the racecourse will close shortly after

Please take a look at the racecourse map within your racecard to familiarise yourself with our facilities and in particular the location of our first aid unit. We have 3 active first-aiders for your safety.

For our loyal Owners and Trainers we have provided the Club Room for your meal plus the Executive room, Club Terrace and the top floor boxes. Annual badge holders can also use the top floor boxes today plus use of the Club Terrace.

Annual badge holders can also use the Paddock Marquee today plus use of the Club Terrace.

Please be aware that we are now cashless on all bar and food outlets accepting only debit or credit cards. Please be assured that turnstiles and betting facilities will continue to accept cash for the time being. For those customers who either forget their cards or do not possess a debit card or credit card, we have special vouchers within the main office where you will be able to exchange your cash for vouchers and should you not spend your vouchers on the day you will be able to exchange them back for cash before you leave (up to 30 minutes after the last race), or use them on a future meeting.

Today these outlets are situated at the Main Office. Please remember to purchase your Ladies Day tickets soon as they are selling fast and once gone it is unlikely that there will be any available to purchase on the day.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN FOR THE NEXT MEETING WHICH IS TUESDAY 4TH JUNE

Official BHA Ratings

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

The obvious starting point is BECCALI, a typically well-bred Godolphin newcomer and it will be an ominous sign for his rivals if he’s strong in the betting. Jorge Alvares shaped with far greater promise than his SP suggested he might at York recently and he is second choice ahead of another likely-looking newcomer in Aegean Sea.

Stewards Note:

ROGUE RAIDER: Following its run on 11/5/2024 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed.

Probable S.P’s: 9-2 Ashariba (FR), 6-1 Amancio (GB), 13-2 Yippee (GB), 7-1 Campaign Medal (GB), 8-1 Rogue Raider (USA), 10-1 Balletic (IRE), 11-1 Tipsy Tiger (GB), 12-1 Breckenridge (GB), 18-1 Autumn Dream (IRE), 28-1 Game Management (GB), 40-1 Albert Lasker (IRE)

The two with arguably the greatest potential are ASHARIBA and Campaign Medal The former wasn’t beaten far when fourth in what looked a decent Goodwood handicap on her reappearance and, with that run under her belt and better ground likely here, she can be expected to see things out better this time. Campaign Medal has shown signs of promise in three starts at around a mile and is likely to benefit from this stiffer test, while Amancio and recent Pontefract winner Yippee are others to consider
