Welcome to our 20th November race meeting. This is our first jumps meeting of the season and we have 7 races today, the first of which starts at 12.20pm and the last at 3.40pm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors who are Weatherbys. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the site map, which will allow you to easily find everything. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the site map, which will allow you to easily find everything. Important points to note are: Public bars and food stands will close today immediately following the final race and the racecourse will close shortly after. Please familiarise yourself with our facilities and in particular the location of our First Aid unit. We have 2 qualified first aiders with us this today. For our loyal Owners and Trainers we have provided the Club Room where you will find televisions, a bar, complimentary tea and coffee and a two course meal plus additional viewing from the Club Terrace. Annual badge holders can use the 1st floor boxes. Please be aware that we are now cashless on all bar and food outlets accepting only debit or credit cards. Please be assured that turnstiles and betting facilities will continue to accept cash for the time being. For those customers who either forget their cards or do not possess a debit card or credit card, we have opened “voucher outlets” where you will be able to exchange your cash for vouchers and should you not spend your vouchers on the day you will be able to exchange them back for cash from the main office before you leave (up to 30 minutes after the last race), or use them on a future meeting. Today these outlets are situated at the Main Office, the Main Tote building and the Betting Hall Tote. We are pleased to say that this change has sped up service and improved security.
Some other points of interest are: • Our Veterinary Treatment rooms have been refurbished and updated, enabling our Veterinary Surgeons to give the best treatment as quick as possible if required. • We are also delighted to say that our Executive Boxes, Club Room, Kube and the Nelson Suite have been completely refurbished including a new customer lift in the Grandstand. HAVE A GREAT RACEDAY, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN ON SUNDAY 3RD DECEMBER.

Star Ratings Explained: Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ★★★★★ Selected to win the race. ★★★★✩ Good chance of being placed. ★★★✩✩ By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims ★★✩✩✩ Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. ★✩✩✩✩ Can be given little or no chance.
Official BHA Ratings The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Race preview from Weatherbys Seven horses go to post for race five on this afternoon’s card, the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Maiden Hurdle, which is staged over 2m4½f.
Hashtag finished third in a Grade 2 bumper and boasts the strongest form. Of those with hurdling form already in the book, the Stuart Edmunds-trained Globe Player finished third over this sort of trip at Huntingdon and the fourth placed horse gave that form a small boost when finishing runner-up to East India Express at Kempton last week. Runner-up to the promising Diamond Ri (runner-up on hurdling debut recently) in a soft-ground bumper at Warwick last spring, the son of Nathaniel should go well again. Hasthing boasts much the strongest bumper form and looks to be an exciting recruit to hurdles for Jonjo O’Neill, who has introduced some really nice novices already this season, namely Mt Fugi Park and even more so, Johnnywho. The last-named carries the silks of JP McManus, as does this imposing six-year-old, who was last seen finishing third in the Grade 2 bumper – also sponsored by Weatherbys – at Aintree on Grand National day. Runner-up to Farnoge (winner already over hurdles) on his British debut at Uttoxeter, he was conceding 10lbs to WEATHERBYS RACEPREVIEW
the winner on that occasion – due to his two wins in France – and the third and fifth have also already won over hurdles this term. The step up in distance looks sure to suit the Konig Turf gelding, who will likely be very tough to beat. Jennie Candlish’s Fortuitous Find ran once over hurdles just under a year ago and is a former Irish Points winner, but all of his form has been achieved on decent ground. Zmiinyi is another to hail from Irish Points and he ran behind Minella Missile (beaten 38 lengths by Friday’s Grade 2 winner) at Chepstow on his debut for Kim Bailey, so needs to take a big step forward. Again, the likely soft ground is an unknown for this five-year-old. Similar comments apply to British Pointer No More No, whilst Captain Copper has been well-beaten in three maiden/novice hurdles and might come into his own once handicapping further down the line. The field is completed by the racecourse debutant Rocket Ronald, who cost €92,000 as a foal and boasts a lovely pedigree, being by Flemensfirth and out of a Kayf Tara mare, who hails from the family of Theatre Girl and Ring The Boss. The five-year-old represents local trainer Laura Morgan, who has saddled seven winners from 34 runners (21% strike-rate) at the track.
