Look out for Letters: C D CD BF
= Has won at this course = Has won over this distance = Has won over this distance at this course = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM / P F U R CO B S r
= New racing season = Missed racing season = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race = Horse fell = Rider unseated = Horse refused to race = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse = Horse was brought down = Horse slipped = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race = Disqualified
d Bold form figures = performance in allweather (Flat) or Pointto-Point (Jump) races

2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse. 3. Timeform view and TFR rating 4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race. 5. JOCKEYS Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day. OTHER USEFUL DETAILS 6. BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

VOICE OF CALM
Race preview from Weatherbys This mares’ handicap chase, staged over two-and-a-half miles, looks to be an intriguing and competitive affair with plenty of these holding solid claims. Dr Richard Newland’s improving fiveyear-old, La Renommee, must shoulder top weight here on account of her impressive seven length victory at Ludlow on seasonal reappearance last time. The daughter of Doctor Dino jumped fantastically through the contest despite racing keenly and could not have won with more in hand, so a nine-pound rise in the handicap does look fair. This will require more from a career high mark,
Love Actually is the sole course winner amongst the field but it would be a surprise if this mare is not still progressing. Anthony Honeyball’s Lilith got the better of that one back in February when winning at Carlisle and is actually 18lbs better off with that rival here. The eight-year-old did disappoint on her final two starts though, and doesn’t have a great record fresh, so may just need the run here. Keiran Burke’s Love Actually is the sole course winner amongst the field, a winner over three miles here back in February. The seven-year-old is two from four over fences but does have a fair bit to prove on the back of two below-par efforts at the back end of the last campaign and both of her victories came over longer trips, so she may find this a little on the sharp side. Voice Of Calm was a smart hurdler for the Emma Lavelle team, winning three times, and got off the mark at the fourth time of asking over the larger obstacles WEATHERBYS RACEDAY PREVIEW
at Leicester last term from a mark of 123. She disappointed on her final start of the campaign but now races from onepound lower than her last winning mark and has had a nice spin over hurdles already this term. The Emma Lavelle stable has been in flying form to start the season and this seven-year-old looks more than capable of winning of this sort of mark. Notnowlinda was twice a winner over hurdles last term for the Skelton team and has chased home a pair of smart geldings in her first two starts over fences. She will find this a little easier back against her own sex here and could look well treated from a mark of just 113. She did show a tendency to jump out to her left at this track last time though, so must straighten out her jumping to have a good chance here. Petticoat Lucy couldn’t have made a better start to life over fences, winning comfortably on chase debut at Newton Abbot back in May before picking up where she left off with a good victory at Exeter on seasonal reappearance. Jeremy Scott’s seven-year-old looks to have improved massively for the switch to fences, and this strong travelling type could take a fair bit of stopping from a six-pound higher mark in her bid for the hattrick. Mulberry Hill is winless in two starts over fences but did stay on strongly to take third in a big field handicap at Carlisle last time. The seven-year-old races from just a two-pound higher mark here but may want a little more pace to aim at out in front. Pass The Love On makes her chase debut for Alan King here but was winless over hurdles and so will have to improve a fair bit for the switch to fences to get involved here.

Notnowlinda was ultimately flattered by her proximity to the winner here last month, but the rival she chased home that day PLAY SMARTER looks pretty useful.
