— Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet. — Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience. — Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

PLAY SMARTER
Cases can be made for several of these, with STORMY FLIGHT topping the list. It was no great surprise that he failed to make an impact on his chase debut last November, given that he was making his seasonal reappearance that day (record when fresh isn’t great), but he’s already had a pipe-opener this time round and is appealing off an attractive mark and with his yard in fine form. Quick Draw has a bit to prove at present and chase-debutants Blackcauseway and Dalamoi rate the main dangers.

This is best left to TWIG, who at least matched the useful level of form he has shown over fences when a clear second in a Cheltenham novice on his recent debut in this sphere. This drop in trip is unlikely to pose a problem and a mere reproduction of that effort would make him very hard to beat. Horn Cape gets the nod ahead of Ajp Kingdom for forecast purposes.

JAY BEE WHY has a good record when fresh and is appealing back from a break off a reduced mark. He was beaten 8 1/2 lengths when third to Dorking Boy over C&D in April but meets that rival on 9lb better terms this time. Dorking Boy should make his presence felt despite the handicapper’s attention but the selection may have most to fear from the Nicky Henderson-trained duo, Call Me Lord and Captain Morgs.
