BETTING

— Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number. — Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet. — ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. — ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

— Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet. — Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience. — Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

PLAY SMARTER

Impossible to rule out any of these but BANGERS AND CASH bettered his hurdles form on his first attempt over fences when scoring at Taunton in December. With improvement on the cards upped further in trip, Ben Pauling’s charge can make it 2-2 in this sphere. Valsheda is feared most provided he’s none the worse from his spill at Newbury on chase bow, with Certainly Red also a danger.

CAP ST VINCENT has an experience edge over his five rivals so Fergal O’Brien’s new recruit gets the verdict to open his account over timber. He’s had a breathing operation prior to this reappearance and should prove tough to beat. This looks competitive but it was hard not to be impressed with the manner of JUDEX LEFOU’s chase success at Exeter from this mark last week and he could be the way to go if taking up this engagement (due to run Huntingdon Thursday). Getthepot and Conceroe are others to consider, whilst Equus Millar is also worth monitoring from a career-low mark.
