Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Race preview from Weatherbys

The entirety of this afternoon’s card is sponsored by Weatherbys and the action gets underway with the 2m3½f WeatherbysPrivateBankMaidenHurdle, inwhichfivegotopost.

Purchased for £350,000 on the back of an Irish Point success, Buckna sets the standardandalthoughhehasfailedto win in four starts for Warren Greatrex, steppingbackupintripwillsuitandthe Order Of St George five-year-old has shown enough to suggest that he can win races over hurdles. Rated 118, that would often be good enough to win a maiden so late in the campaign and bettergroundmightalsohelp.

Buckna should be tough to beat.

On bumper form, Lightning Maqueen would be feared most, although he waswell-beatenonhisbelatedhurdles debutatNewburyjust19daysago.

Over the same trip, the Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap Hurdle is a 0-100 class five event, with the weights headed by Tom Symonds’ Kalista Love, who arrives here on the backofawind-operation.Onthepickof her form, the mare wouldn’t be without a chance, although a more obvious

contenderwouldlooktobeTaraIti,who wonhereonlylastweek.

That victory came over the minimum tripbutthesonofSixtiesIconfinishedfull of running and this will be just his third start for James Owen. He has, however, now had 35 runs over hurdles – plus 10 racesontheFlat–andhaswonjustsix times,sotheseven-year-oldisn’tprolific intermsofhisstrike-rate.

There aren’t many unexposed types in race three, the Arkle Finance Handicap Chase, although Harriet Dickin’s Victory Club – who wears first-time blinkers – is having his first start over fences. A good-ground winner for the same trainer in a maiden Point in February 2022, he then won a bumper undersimilarconditionsforDanSkelton before returning to Dickin ahead of returning from a lengthy lay-off a year ago. He has dropped 12lbs in four starts since November and might show improvedformforgoingchasing.

Returningtobettergroundwilllikelyhelp Superstylin, who has the assistance of Sean Bowen in the saddle. Suzy Smith’s eight-year-old is another to consider, on the back of an encouraging run on soft ground at Lingfield last time, when he was short of room before the finalfence.

Wolf Moon is another who sets a relatively high bar for the time of year.

BenPauling’sWolfMoonhastoconcede weight to all in the Weatherbys Racing Bank Novices’ Hurdle, due to his victory at Southwell last month. That form will have been tested in the opening race, as the aforementioned Buckna finishedthird,andthefive-year-oldhad earlier bumped into Nicky Henderson’s ex-German Derby winner Palladium overthiscourse-and-distance.Thethird from that race has since won twice, including an easy win at Southwell on Monday.

ThejuvenileGalacticCharmislikely to bethemaindanger,inreceiptofa10lbs age-allowance.Asoft-groundwinnerat Fontwell on his second start for Gary & Josh Moore, the Sea The Moon gelding ran well in a Sandown handicap last time, only giving best in the closing stages. A winner on quicker ground on theFlatwhentrainedbyMichaelBell,he hastoberespected.

The penultimate race on the card –the weatherbysshop.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Chase – sees the prolific CaminoRocio attempt to win for a fifth time in six starts for Jim & Suzi Best. Up 6lbs for his latest success at Market Rasen, the Milan seven-year-old is

unbeaten in three starts under today’s rider,SeanBowen.

Based on his Chepstow run back in November, top-weight Red Nika would hold claims, whilst the unexposed Gentleman’sRelishisNickyHenderson’s solerunneronthecard.

Thesix-year-oldlookedpromisingwhen winningaNewburybumperbuthasyet tostrikeoverobstacles.

The afternoon concludes with the Weatherbys Scientific Fillies’ Junior National Hunt Flat Race, in which Merely A Detail is the only previous winner. It could, however, be difficult for her under a penalty and Market Rasen second Shotgun Shirley and the hooded (first-time) RideLikeAGirl looktobemostinterestingofthosewith form. The latter represents the in-form stableofJamieSnowden.

Alan King is always respected in such races and he runs both And She Was and Kittys Glance. Both possess nice pedigreesbutperhaps, thelatterwillbe of more interest with her hailing from a family of speedier types, so conditions oughttosuit.

Oftheothernewcomers,AmberWaves andinparticular,Skittisharealsoworth considering. The latter hails from the yardofHughieMorrison, anothertrainer who has to be respected in such races and with his National Hunt runners ingeneral.
