Raceday preview from Weatherbys We are delighted to be sponsoring every race this afternoon at Huntingdon for what looks to be a great day’s racing, with a big thank you to the fantastic grounds team for making the track raceable. Arguably, the most interesting races on the card are the two novice hurdles, starting with the Weatherbys Private Bank Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, won last year by Dan Skelton’s Grade 1-placed Kateira. The trainer looks to hold a strong hand yet again with impressive Lingfield scorer Coco Mademoiselle setting the standard. A winner of a Wetherby bumper that has worked out well, the six-year-old shed her maiden tag over hurdles at the second time of asking, powering to an 11-length success. She looked a smart prospect and is the one to beat here, even with the 7lb penalty.

Ben Pauling’s five-year-old must bounce back from a pulled-up effort in the Grade 1 Formby Novices’ Hurdle when last seen but is back in calmer waters here, and he is one of the more interesting runners on the entire card if getting back on track. Heading the opposition is Anthony Honeyball’s Dartmoor Pirate, who got off the mark over timber first time when landing a soft ground maiden hurdle at Wincanton when last seen. From the same smart family as Baradari, the five-year-old showed an impressive turn of foot from the second last and left the impression there is much more to come. Dan Skelton won this race back in 2022 with Frere D’Armes and lines up Home Free on hurdles debut here.
Gary Moore has saddled the winner of the last two renewals of today’s feature race.
The son of Soldier Of Fortune has some nice bumper form in the book behind hurdles winners Beat The Bat and Choccabloc and is an intriguing contender if taking to the task.
Of the opposition, Baby Shally would present a danger if taking her chance after scoring in determined fashion on hurdles debut at Wincanton last month whilst Giver The Hollie and Moonlit Potter are closely matched on bumper form and are of interest on hurdles debut.
The feature race of the day is the Weatherbys Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle, and Gary Moore has saddled the winner of the last two renewals of the contest.
The Arkle Finance EBF “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle features widemargin course and distance winner Tellherthename, who made all here back in November on route to a 14-length victory. The form of that race has been WEATHERBYS RACEDAY PREVIEW
The trainer has been in fine form of late and sends Soigneux Bell in search of a third straight success here. A winner on the flat in France, Soigneux Bell handled conditions best when running out an 11-length winner of a juvenile hurdle at Fontwell on heavy ground last time.
He settled and jumped a lot better than he did on his previous two starts, and testing conditions look the key to this horse. It is also worth noting that Gary Moore won the same Fontwell contest with Kotmask prior to his 2022 Chatteris Fen success, so it is a tried and tested route. Kabral Du Mathan is an intriguing runner on stable debut for Paul Nicholls, his only runner on the card. He is a winner of a hurdle at Clairefontaine, of which the third horse home has given the form a strong look with three subsequent victories. Alan King’s Whispering Royal, rated 72 on the flat, made all to win at Doncaster in a juvenile maiden hurdle last time and should give another good account of himself.
Ben Pauling’s Tellherthename is one of the more interesting runners on the entire card if getting back on track. encouraging return to form when winning at Wincanton last time and a 5lb rise may not be enough to halt another bold bid if sticking to prominent tactics. Mixedwave was a winner at Market Rasen back in November, although later disqualified for whip misuse, and ran well for a long way when second back at that track last time. In here from an unchanged mark, the seven-year-old is likely to be popular but did show a tendency to jump markedly out to his left when third at this track in March.

NEXT MEETING
ADMISSION & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY • Entry to the racecourse is subject to the right of the Racecourse Executive to refuse to admit and/or to expel, without prior notice, any person whose behaviour is considered to be unruly or unacceptable or is a disqualified person. • Bringing Food and Drink into the Main Enclosure other than that purchased at the racecourse is prohibited. • Racegoers must at all times comply with any conditions, rules and regulations in operation, including the observance of no drinking areas for safety reasons. • No dogs allowed anywhere on site except guide dogs. Dogs must not be left in vehicles and anyone found leaving a dog in a vehicle may face prosecution. • In the event of racing being abandoned, refunds on tickets purchased will be paid as follows: - Abandonment before completion of the first race - full refund - Abandonment between the conclusion of the first race and third race - racegoers will receive a 50% refund.- Abandonment thereafter - no refund. • All refunds must be claimed within 28 days of the racemeeting. Please send badges with covering letter stating full name and address to: Ticket Refunds, Huntingdon Racecourse, Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE28 4NL. Huntingdon will have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after 28 days.
BEHAVIOUR AND DRESS CODE The Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission to all enclosures or to eject any person from the racecourse. When patrons are refused or ejected from the racecourse they will not be entitled to a refund. When leaving the Racecourse please be considerate of our neighbours. The dress code is smart casual.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION Huntingdon Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety and Security measures this year to enhance your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, either to the assembly Point behind the Clubhouse, overflow to the picnic car park or if both these areas are compromised then to use the Centre of the Course, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; take your belongings with you under the directions of the Stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.

HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE The Racecourse would be grateful if racegoers would observe all Health and Safety requirements whilst at Huntingdon Racecourse. The Emergency Exits from the Bars onto the Grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would appreciate it if Racegoers would not stop in this area. We would also be grateful if only those that are Disabled use the Disabled Viewing Ramp and that parents keep a close eye on children and prevent them from climbing on the running rails and getting onto the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID room is located on the ground floor of the Cromwell Stand. Public access is prohibited to the Centre Course.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Huntingdon Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.
If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
PHOTOGRAPHY Racegoers please note it is not permitted to take photographs on racecourses except within the areas normally open to the public. Amateur photographers must ensure that they do not intrude upon areas used by professional photographers. Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.
