THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

Welcome to Huntingdon Racecourse, where the excitement of jumps racing takes centre stage this afternoon. With a fantastic line-up of horses and jockeys ready to battle it out on track, this promises to be an afternoon of thrilling entertainment.

We extend our gratitude to Racing TV for their support and a special thanks to ProActive for sponsoring the Nigel Hellewell Handicap Hurdle at 4.00pm commemorating his memory and passionate love of horseracing

As the season end draws near, the competition for the Fairfax Leading Trainer and Jockey Championships is heating up. Paddy Brennan is currently defending his top spot against close competitors Jonjo O’Neill Jnr and Tom Bellamy. Meanwhile trainer Fergal O’Brien maintains his dominance but with power pair Oliver Greenall & Joshua Guerriero quickly closing in

Aside from the adrenaline-fueled racing, Huntingdon Racecourse offers a range of facilities to make your day out even more enjoyable From the restaurant and bars to the betting facilities, there is something for everyone.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Dino-Mite season finale on Monday 29 May. This special event promises to be a roaring good time for the whole family with a host of Jurassic-themed activities and entertainment. Make sure to book ahead for any hospitality experiences, including spaces at our awardwinning Peterborough Restaurant. GAIA VALLIS saw the 3m trip out with more conviction than had previously been the case when finishing runner-up at Taunton a fortnight ago, so David Bridgwater’s 7-y-o is fancied to go a place better and continue her fine run of form. The main danger may emerge from Sadie Hill, who narrowly got off the mark at Ffos Las last month and should be competitive again from just a 3lb higher mark. Div Ine Tara and Kentford Mallard can fight out third spot.

A fairly useful winner in bumpers, SWAPPED didn’t go without promise in a trio of novice hurdles last campaign and, with progress anticipated now handicapping for his powerful stable, he could well be worth chancing to come out on top following wind surgery Great Ocean comes here on the back of solid placed efforts and is feared, with the hat-trick seeking William of York and Issar d’Airy others fancied to feature.

MONTECAM is a half-brother to Altior among others and, while only sixth at Kempton on debut, the fact that he was sent off 9/4 looks significant. He might well be able to improve enough to open his account at the second attempt and he’s marginally preferred to Broomhill Road, who made a pleasing start at Doncaster a couple of months ago Lucky Place, a stablemate of the selection, is also worthy of consideration first time out.

Emergency Evacuation

Huntingdon Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety and Security measures this year to enhance your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, either to the assembly Point behind the Clubhouse, overflow to the picnic car park or if both these areas are compromised then to use the Centre of the Course, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; take your belongings with you under the directions of the Stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

Health And Safety Notice

The Racecourse would be grateful if racegoers would observe all Health and Safety requirements whilst at Huntingdon Racecourse. The Emergency Exits from the Bars onto the Grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would appreciate it if Racegoers would not stop in this area. We would also be grateful if only those that are Disabled use the Disabled Viewing Ramp and that parents keep a close eye on children and prevent them from climbing on the running rails and getting onto the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID room is located on the ground floor of the Cromwell Stand. Public access is prohibited to the Centre Course.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Huntingdon Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident vinvolving a jockey.

If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

Photography

Racegoers please note it is not permitted to take photographs on racecourses except within the areas normally open to the public. Amateur photographers must ensure that they do not intrude upon areas used by professional photographers. Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.
