THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

A warm welcome to Huntingdon Racecourse for an exciting afternoon of jumps racing.

Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors Racing TV and British EBF across today’s racecard and of course to Fairfax Saddles for their fantastic ongoing support to Huntingdon. A special mention of Peter Greaves who worked over 34 years to improve facilities for disabled racegoers in Britain. He will be remembered today in our fifth race, The Peter Greaves Memorial Handicap Chase.

Today is our last fixture before the Grade 2 Fitzdares Peterborough Chase on Sunday 4th December No stranger to producing exceptional results, this two and a half mile contest saw jockey David Bass take home the cup with an impressive ride for Kim Bailey’s First Flow in 2021 Other notable Grade 1 champions include Desert Orchid, Edredon Bleu and in recent years Top Notch.

Tickets are in high demand for the Fitzdares Peterborough Chase and Boxing Day fixtures so make sure you don’t delay by booking online or direct from the office Be sure to make the most of the winter season by bringing the whole family down for a grand day out at one of our sensational days of racing

We invite you to enjoy all our available facilities including Lentons and Hurdles bars as well as several outdoor food concession units for you to choose from Our 2022/23 annual badge packages are now on sale, which includes admission to all our fixtures throughout the season. Please enquire in the office today or purchase online at www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/huntingdon.

I hope that you have a fantastic time at Huntingdon this afternoon, and with the exciting line up of race days to come, we would like to wish all the owners, trainers, jockeys and stable staff best of luck for the season

Emergency Evacuation

Huntingdon Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety and Security measures this year to enhance your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, either to the assembly Point behind the Clubhouse, overflow to the picnic car park or if both these areas are compromised then to use the Centre of the Course, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; take your belongings with you under the directions of the Stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.

Health And Safety Notice

The Racecourse would be grateful if racegoers would observe all Health and Safety requirements whilst at Huntingdon Racecourse. The Emergency Exits from the Bars onto the Grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would appreciate it if Racegoers would not stop in this area. We would also be grateful if only those that are Disabled use the Disabled Viewing Ramp and that parents keep a close eye on children and prevent them from climbing on the running rails and getting onto the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID room is located on the ground floor of the Cromwell Stand. Public access is prohibited to the Centre Course.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Huntingdon Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident vinvolving a jockey.

If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

Photography

Racegoers please note it is not permitted to take photographs on racecourses except within the areas normally open to the public. Amateur photographers must ensure that they do not intrude upon areas used by professional photographers. Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.
