AFTERNOON RACEDAY THURSDAY 24 FEBRUARY 2022 Official Racecard £3.00
THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU
Welcome to Huntingdon for what promises to be an exciting and enjoyable afternoon featuring six races. We would like to thank Racing TV for their support of this afternoon’s action and their ongoing, excellent coverage of British racing. The feature race this afternoon is the Visit racingtv.com Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase, which carries decent prize money and has a quality field. This race is open to novices (horses who have not won a race over the larger obstacles prior to this season), who are aged five years or older and who have an official rating up to 135. The supporting races look highly competitive and we should hopefully be in for some exciting finishes. We are extremely grateful for your patience while work continues to bring all areas of the racecourse back into full operation. Some of our indoor facilities are open for use, including Gurneys and Lentons, with a number of outdoor food concession units for you to choose from. Please consider wearing a face mask in indoor and enclosed spaces where social distancing is not possible. QR codes remain located around the racecourse to enable you to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app, should you wish to. I wish all of today’s participants the very best of luck and hope that you have a wonderful time with us at Huntingdon.

STEP TO THE TOP looked an improved model on her handicap bow at Market Rasen until coming down 2 out and is well worth siding with to confirm that progress here off the same mark. Pilsdon Pen also arrives at the top of his game so is feared most, although in-form duo Doireann and William Cody are two others who warrant plenty of respect too in an open handicap.

PLAY SMARTER
AT A PINCH reached quite a decent standard on the Flat so might be worth chancing to make a winning start over hurdles for new trainer Harry Eustace. Nicky Henderson’s Quickbuck rates an obvious threat on the back of his Plumpton second, while Scudamore will be a major player if showing up here rather than Doncaster on Wednesday.

PLAY SMARTER
It’s hard to look beyond HILLFINCH, who pulled a long way clear of the re-opposing Galante de Romay and six others when second to the potentially useful Holly Hartingo on her C&D hurdles debut last month. With Code Name Lise yet to fire over hurdles, Hana Collonges, who is surely capable of better than she showed in a Ludlow bumper, and Rapaport are taken to fill the places.
