THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU
A very warm welcome to Huntingdon for our most prestigious raceday of the year, Fitzdares Peterborough Chase Day. We are very grateful to Fitzdares for their generous sponsorship of all seven races this afternoon. The feature race is the Grade Two Fitzdares Peterborough Chase, a twoand-a-half-mile chase, which has an illustrious roll of honour. Past winners include some of the sport’s most talented horses, including Desert Orchid, Remittance Man, Dublin Flyer, One Man, Best Mate, Edredon Bleu and Monet’s Garden. Today’s renewal looks to be a fantastic race on paper, with previous Grade One-winning contenders from some of the most successful trainers in Britain set to line up. Work to reinstate our facilities following the flood damage continues to progress well and I am pleased to say that Gurney’s Bar, whilst not operational, is now back open. We very much appreciate your patience as we work to return all facilities back to full use. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jack Pryor, our out-going Clerk of the Course, for all the work he has done at Huntingdon Racecourse, particularly during some very challenging times. Jack will remain with The Jockey Club, continuing in his role as Clerk at Market Rasen, while taking on the challenge of becoming Event Director of Blenheim Horse Trials. I would also like to welcome Roderick Duncan, who is taking on the role of Clerk of the Course here and who brings a wealth of experience to the position. Our ‘Boxing Day At The Races’ fixture is always very popular and I am pleased to say this year is no different. If you would like to join us for this wonderful festive occasion, be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. We are continuing to recommend wearing face masks in crowded indoor spaces and checking in via the NHS COVID-19 app. QR codes remain located around the racecourse to enable you to check in should you wish to. I wish all of today’s participants the very best of luck and hope that you have a wonderful time with us at Huntingdon.

The vote goes to OSCAR ELITE, who might well have made a winning start over fences had he not departed 3 out when going best at Cheltenham 3 weeks ago. He’s an exciting chasing prospect and, provided he’s none the worse for that spill, he can make amends. ZACONY REBEL was well in command at the finish when off the mark at Fontwell a couple of months ago and the form has a very strong look to it, so he’s well fancied to defy a mark of 124 on his first go in a handicap. IMPORTANT NOTICES Admission & Conditions Of Entry
Emergency Evacuation
• Entry to the racecourse is subject to the right of the Racecourse Executive to refuse to admit and/or to expel, without prior notice, any person whose behaviour is considered to be unruly or unacceptable or is a disqualified person.
Huntingdon Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety and Security measures this year to enhance your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, either to the assembly Point behind the Clubhouse, overflow to the picnic car park or if both these areas are compromised then to use the Centre of the Course, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; take your belongings with you under the directions of the Stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
• Bringing Food and Drink into the Main Enclosure other than that purchased at the racecourse is prohibited. • Racegoers must at all times comply with any conditions, rules and regulations in operation, including the observance of no drinking areas for safety reasons. • No dogs allowed anywhere on site except guide dogs. Dogs must not be left in vehicles and anyone found leaving a dog in a vehicle may face prosecution. • In the event of racing being abandoned, refunds on tickets purchased will be paid as follows: - Abandonment before completion of the first race - full refund - Abandonment between the conclusion of the first race and third race - racegoers will receive a 50% refund.- Abandonment thereafter - no refund. • All refunds must be claimed within 28 days of the racemeeting. Please send badges with covering letter stating full name and address to: Ticket Refunds, Huntingdon Racecourse, Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE28 4NL. Huntingdon will have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after 28 days.
Behaviour And Dress Code The Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission to all enclosures or to eject any person from the racecourse. When patrons are refused or ejected from the racecourse they will not be entitled to a refund. When leaving the Racecourse please be considerate of our neighbours. The dress code is smart casual. The Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission to patrons failing to comply with this request.
Health And Safety Notice The Racecourse would be grateful if racegoers would observe all Health and Safety requirements whilst at Huntingdon Racecourse. The Emergency Exits from the Bars onto the Grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would appreciate it if Racegoers would not stop in this area. We would also be grateful if only those that are Disabled use the Disabled Viewing Ramp and that parents keep a close eye on children and prevent them from climbing on the running rails and getting onto the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID room is located on the ground floor of the Cromwell Stand. Public access is prohibited to the Centre Course.
Racehorse & Jockey Welfare The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Huntingdon Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident vinvolving a jockey.
If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
Photography Racegoers please note it is not permitted to take photographs on racecourses except within the areas normally open to the public. Amateur photographers must ensure that they do not intrude upon areas used by professional photographers. Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.
