AFTERNOON RACING

TUESDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2021 Official Racecard £2.00

THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

A very warm welcome to Huntingdon for this mid-week afternoon fixture, featuring six exciting races to enjoy. We would like to thank Racing TV for their generous sponsorship of this afternoon’s action and for their continued support of the sport. The Michaelmas Handicap Hurdle is the feature race today and it is often contested by horses with Listed and Graded potential. Nicky Henderson’s Grade 2 winner Call Me Lord finished third in this race in 2017 and many of the winners since have competed at the big festival meetings later in the season. It is well worth keeping a watchful eye on those who perform well today. So too is it worth making a note of those who run well in our opening racingtv.com/freemonth Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and concluding Racing TV “Junior” National Hunt Flat Race, as both these races could feature unexposed horses with the potential to be top performers. Sadly the severe flooding that we experienced over the course of last winter has impacted almost all of our ground floor facilities. As a result we are not able to offer the experience we would like as those facilities are currently closed while work continues to refurbish them. We are working as quickly as we can to complete this and have created as many temporary facilities as we can for our customers. We appreciate your patience and understanding as this important work is carried out. I wish all of today’s participants the very best of luck and hope that you have a wonderful time with us at Huntingdon. JULIAN TAYLOR Chairman - Huntingdon Racecourse

There was plenty of market confidence behind THEATRE GLORY ahead of her bumper debut success in the spring so she’s seemingly well regarded and is fancied to remain unbeaten now hurdling. The Olly Murphy team is flying so Chosen Port, who was placed twice in bumpers last term, is fancied to give her most to do.

Ready preference is for RAFFERTY, who did the job well on his first attempt in a handicap chase at Market Rasen and a 10lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from striking again. Dreamsundermyfeet’s winning run was brought to a halt at Worcester last time, but he was progressive prior to that and is feared most. Uncle O makes some each-way appeal.

PLAY SMARTER

Quite a useful handicap. The second and third have both boosted the form of TAKE IT EASY’s Wetherby win last month so Pam Sly’s charge is fancied to enhance his already good strike-rate in handicaps. Sage Advice ran an eye-catching race in the Fred Winter when last seen over hurdles and, fit from the Flat, is feared most ahead of Onemorefortheroad.

PLAY SMARTER

MILITARIAN and Kilfilum Cross are both very well handicapped and there’s a feeling that both could revive faced with a much less competitive scenario than has generally been the case in recent years. A narrow vote goes the way of the former but the betting may provide more pointers.

Emergency Evacuation

• Entry to the racecourse is subject to the right of the Racecourse Executive to refuse to admit and/or to expel, without prior notice, any person whose behaviour is considered to be unruly or unacceptable or is a disqualified person.

Huntingdon Racecourse has significantly enhanced Safety and Security measures this year to enhance your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance. Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via an emergency evacuation gate, either to the assembly Point behind the Clubhouse, overflow to the picnic car park or if both these areas are compromised then to use the Centre of the Course, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember; take your belongings with you under the directions of the Stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.

• Bringing Food and Drink into the Main Enclosure other than that purchased at the racecourse is prohibited. • Racegoers must at all times comply with any conditions, rules and regulations in operation, including the observance of no drinking areas for safety reasons. • No dogs allowed anywhere on site except guide dogs. Dogs must not be left in vehicles and anyone found leaving a dog in a vehicle may face prosecution. • In the event of racing being abandoned, refunds on tickets purchased will be paid as follows: - Abandonment before completion of the first race - full refund - Abandonment between the conclusion of the first race and third race - racegoers will receive a 50% refund.- Abandonment thereafter - no refund. • All refunds must be claimed within 28 days of the racemeeting. Please send badges with covering letter stating full name and address to: Ticket Refunds, Huntingdon Racecourse, Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE28 4NL. Huntingdon will have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after 28 days.

Health And Safety Notice The Racecourse would be grateful if racegoers would observe all Health and Safety requirements whilst at Huntingdon Racecourse. The Emergency Exits from the Bars onto the Grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would appreciate it if Racegoers would not stop in this area. We would also be grateful if only those that are Disabled use the Disabled Viewing Ramp and that parents keep a close eye on children and prevent them from climbing on the running rails and getting onto the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the FIRST AID room is located on the ground floor of the Cromwell Stand. Public access is prohibited to the Centre Course.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Huntingdon Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident vinvolving a jockey.

If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

In-Running Betting Racegoers please note it is not permitted to take photographs on racecourses except within the areas normally open to the public. Amateur photographers must ensure that they do not intrude upon areas used by professional photographers. Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.

Shuttle Service A shuttle taxi service will operate on racedays, between the racecourse and the station. The pick-up and drop off point is located on the taxi collection point. This service runs for 2 hours before the first race and for half an hour either side of the last race.
