Probable S.P’s: 7-4 Baron de Midleton (IRE), 5-2 Matchless (IRE), 11-2 Jubilee Gold (IRE), 12-1 Sonning (IRE), 16-1 Allbetsoff (IRE), 22-1 Kopa Kilana (IRE), 40-1 Mr Globalist (IRE), 50-1 Foxey (GB), 66-1 Brave Bairn (FR)

Though there are misgivings where both MATCHLESS and Baron De Midleton are concerned, it’s nevertheless highly likely that they will come to the fore in this contest. The latter is the clear pick at the weights but he’s at the veteran stage now and it remains to be seen if this drop back to 2m will aid his cause, a factor which helps tilt the scales in the favour of Matchless. Of the others, Jubilee Gold is the most appealing.

GREAT BRITISH BONUS SCHEME

The Great British Bonus (GBB) incentivises and rewards with breeding, buying and racing of British-bred fillies by paying out bonuses of up to £100,000 per filly And now with GBBPlus to further incentivise staying fillies and chasing mares, there are more reasons than ever to breed, buy and race British Majority funded by the HBLB.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

Hexham Racecourse employs veterinary surgeons whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse.

In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the Racecourse’s Veterinary team.

Qualified Paramedics and Doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.

If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving the treatment.

This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment.

British racing has reduced the number of horses that fall by a third and fatalities to 0.25% of 90,000 yearly runners.
