We would like to welcome the friends of the late Martin Bowler who have sponsored our 5th race the 2 mile Novices Handicap Steeple Chase in his memory Martin was a regular visitor to the course, and we hope they all have an enjoyable day. Thanks also go to regular sponsors Langley Castle Hotel, equestrianeye.com, N-E Bet and Hexham Bookmakers our very own Lords of the Ring who stand in all weathers offering best prices, accepting your money and pay out with a smile when you have won.
The BHA have published a provisional list for 2024 with a final fixture list to be announced once funding has been agreed I am confident our dates will not alter and have included the dates of our first 9 meetings next year on the back page of the race card The delay in final publication of the fixture list is as a result of ongoing discussions surrounding the Premier Fixtures and I will give a further update on this and the effects on racecourses once more information is available.
Whilst on course should you require assistance please contact the racecourse office situated next to the turnstiles or ask any member of racecourse, stewarding or catering staff who will be pleased to assist.

TIMEFORM VIEW Comfortably held in 4 starts over hurdles and easily best effort over fences when winning over C&D 3 weeks ago. Still unexposed as a stayer
1. Form
A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions
Look out for letters:
C = has won at this course
D = has won over this distance
CD = has won over this distance at this course
BF = was a beaten favourite last time
EXPERT VIEW
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
4. Horse’s trainer & their location
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
5. Jockey
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
OTHER USEFUL DETAILS
6. Owner’s colours worn by the jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10 Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and ibs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)

14. Horse’s breeder
15 Birthplace of horse (outside GB)
EACH HORSE HAS BEEN GIVEN A STAR RATING, DEFINITION BELOW: Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed
By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
More information on the form
- = New racing season
/ = Missed racing season
P = was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race
F = horse fell
U = rider unseated
R = horse refused to race
CO = the horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse
B = horse was brought down
S = horse slipped
r = the horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race
D = disqualified
Bold form figures = performance in All-weather (Flat) or point-to-point (Jump) races
Unlikely to win but not totally without hope Can be given little or no chance
The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4 A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered
• 3 or 4 runners
Win bets only Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
Shop around for the best odds When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win” Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings

Lucinda Russell has her string in excellent nick so her WHISTLE STOP TOUR, a £115,000 purchase after landing an Irish point in March, is fancied to make a winning debut in this sphere. Jeepydoff Meel holds much the best form of those with experience and rates a big threat if shrugging off a below-par Stratford fourth last time. Kilta and Hawkseye View appeal as the pick of the rest for place purposes.
The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.
All Bookmakers must possess a valid Betting Badge and be occupying an authorised pitch to be entitled to lay bets

In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the Racecourse’s Veterinary team
Qualified Paramedics and Doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.
