BET TING WITH THE BOOKMAKERS
DIFFERENT WAYS TO BET - WIN OR EACH-WAY
The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4 A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered
• 3 or 4 runners
Win bets only Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
PLACING YOUR BET
Shop around for the best odds When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win” Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings
Tote vs Starting Price?
We’ll pay whichever is better on win bets!
We’ll always pay at least SP on Win bets and if the Tote dividend is greater, we’ll pay out at that price. Tote.co.uk, Tote.ie, Tote App and selected UK racecourse customers only Promotion applies to Tote Win and win part of each way bets on all UK & Irish races, staking limits apply. CHOIX DES ARMES: Following its run on 31/1/2023 it was reported that the horse hung right handed throughout.

Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Moonacura (IRE), Cudgel (GB), 9-2 Ashjan (GB), 6-1 Hell On Earth (IRE), 8-1 Choix des Armes (FR), 20-1 Court Justice (IRE), 22-1 Bandit d’Ainay (FR)
PLAY SMARTER
ASHJAN has been struggling for form but there was a glimmer of encouragement in his fifth here last time and, with his yard going well, he might be able to capitalise on a reduced mark. Cudgel is also well treated and goes well here, so he’s feared and Moonacura could up his game in first-time blinkers.

HOUSTON TEXAS: Following its run on 25/2/2023 it was reported that the horse lost a shoe.

NICK LOST didn’t shape too badly in a cross-country event at Punchestown last time and, with a tongue strap now applied, he could be worth chancing if the market speaks in his favour Twoshotsoftequila is considered a danger on the back of his Doncaster win and Taste The Fear who was third in the same race, should be on the premises.

Most of these arrive with a question mark against them so this looks a good opportunity for PILEUP to build on an encouraging Market Rasen debut second in this sphere and gain his breakthrough success. Trevelyn’s Corn is feared most on the back of his good recent C&D second, especially if the fitting of cheekpieces ekes out some improvement. Broomfields Kan appeals as the pick of the remainder now he drops back in trip.
