WEDNESDAY 15 APRIL 2026

The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2026

Welcome to Haydock Park for our Wednesday 15th April Raceday.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Haydock Park for this afternoon’s racing, and we are happy to be hosting a rescheduled fixture originally due to take place at Cheltenham.
Following the recent announcement regarding essential drainage improvements at Cheltenham Racecourse, we were delighted to be able to step in to accommodate today’s eight race card Working closely with the National Trainers Federation and the British Horseracing Authority, this collaborative effort ensures that today’s races are staged for their original prize money, providing valuable opportunities for connections and continuity within the racing programme.
Today’s card includes the addition of the Unibet Abram Mares’ Listed Novices’ Hurdle, enhancing what is already a competitive and high-quality afternoon of racing with the Grade 2 Unibet Silver Trophy being the highlight. We are grateful to the many owners and trainers who have continued to support these races despite the change of venue, and we look forward to seeing their horses in action here this afternoon.I would also like to extend our thanks to Unibet for their valued sponsorship of today’s fixture.
This meeting represents the final full Jump fixture at Haydock Park until the autumn, bringing the curtain down on another excellent season of National Hunt racing here at Haydock Park However, there is still plenty to look forward to, including our Flat Season Opener on Saturday 25th April, followed by Swinton Hurdle Day in May a popular and unique mixed fixture combining both Flat and Jump racing
I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to the entire Haydock Park team for their hard work and flexibility in planning and delivering today’s raceday at short notice, particularly at a time when many are also heavily involved in preparations and delivery of the Randox Grand National Festival
Thank you for joining us at Haydock Park I hope you enjoy an excellent afternoon of racing
Best of luck
Simon Tonge General Manager

DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING

LE TIEP’S SACRE made a promising return from a year off when fifth at Kempton and can build on it to gain a second win for his current yard Below The Radar figures on a handy-looking mark and heads the list of dangers, although Masked Dance and Analiese are appealing too in this highly competitive handicap

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
