WELCOME TO

Welcome to Haydock Park for The Betfred Last Fling Raceday. It is a pleasure to welcome you to Haydock Park for our Betfred Last Fling Raceday, as we draw the curtain on another memorable year of racing. I would like to thank Betfred for their continued support and sponsorship, and to thank you for your loyal support of Haydock Park throughout the year. Today’s meeting provides a fitting finale to the festive period, with competitive racing throughout the card and the Betfred Last Fling Handicap Chase once again taking centre stage. Run in the heart of the winter season, the race has built a strong reputation for testing both stamina and determination, ensuring an exciting highlight for racegoers and viewers alike. The days between Christmas and New Year are a traditional time to enjoy the sport with friends and family, and we are delighted you have chosen to spend part of the festive break with us. Whether you are seeing out the year in familiar company or making a final visit of 2025 to the racecourse, we hope today delivers a relaxed and enjoyable raceday experience. As the year comes to a close, there is still time to look ahead to 2026. Our website features a range of racing experiences, including upcoming raceday tickets, hospitality packages, Annual Memberships, and opportunities to get even closer to the action through the Haydock Park Racing Club. Each offers a memorable way to continue your involvement with Haydock Park into the New Year. I hope you enjoy today’s racing and on behalf of the whole team at Haydock Park, would like to wish you a very Happy New Year. Simon Tonge General Manager

BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

He didn’t shape badly when too keen over 2 1/2m on return at Aintree and, judged on his exploits as a novice last term, he surely has races in him in 2m handicaps PLAY SMARTER off this sort of mark. RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
